{australien_flagge}Tennant Minerals (ASX: TMS; FRA: UH7A) has again succeeded in significantly increasing the size of its Bluebird copper discovery through a further eight targeted holes totaling 2340 meters. The strike length has doubled to 240 meters and the depth of copper mineralization has now been traced to 300 meters. For the first time, Tennant’s announcement today publicly speaks of the potential for a “multi-million tonne copper-gold resource”.
Analysis of recent drill core is still pending, but the visual results speak for themselves: some of the recent diamond drill holes BBDD0018 to BBDD0025 intersected 25 m thick hematite breccias including a 15 m zone of intense copper mineralization with visible copper sulphides. The recent intersection in BBDD0025 opens up the potential for the Western Step-Out Zone to host additional high-grade copper-gold mineralization open in all directions.
Matt Driscoll, Chairman of Tennant Minerals, commented, “These recent intercepts have confirmed the continuity of intense copper mineralization at the Bluebird discovery. As a result, we have successfully doubled the strike length to 240 meters and extended the depth to 300 meters. As the discovery is open at depth and in all directions, this opens up the potential for Bluebird to host a multi-million tonne deposit of similar scale to other large high-grade deposits at Tennant Creek, such as the nearby Peko mine, which produced 3.7 million tonnes at 4% copper and 3.5 grams per tonne gold.”
The Bluebird discovery is one of several targets identified on the company’s Barkly project along a 5 km east-west trending gravity anomaly. Tennant believes there is significant potential for additional high-grade copper-gold discoveries along strike from Bluebird in this “Bluebird Corridor”. Therefore, Tennant is testing additional high-grade geophysical targets at Perseverance, Perseverance North and Bluebird West to replicate the Bluebird discovery.

Figure 2: Cross section 448,280mE showing a new intensely mineralized intercept in BBDD0025 and the target at depth.
Bluebird’s copper-gold mineralization is now being modeled in 3D ahead of further mineral resource definition and extension drilling scheduled to commence in March 2023, after the wet season.
Bottom line: exploration success is the result of “systematic luck”. With each drilling success, Tennant improves the predictive power of its underlying model; on the other hand, the Bluebird discovery also benefits geologists with its continuity, which is certainly fortunate. Tennant is the first company to use modern exploration methods at Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory. Unlike older mines in the neighborhood, Bluebird is therefore the first discovery that could not be seen on surface. Tennant believes it holds the key to further Bluebird-style discoveries. Results from ongoing drilling in the Bluebird corridor on the neighboring Perseverance target could become a game changer for the company.
