Thick zone of surface mineralization continues to grow
Just a few days ago, we wrote that a large, robust gold system is beginning to emerge at the Quesnelle Gold Quartzs project (QGQ) of Golden Cariboo Resources (CSE GCC / WKN A402CQ). The company had reported visible gold in all new drill holes in the particularly promising Halo Zone. And now it turns out that the zone of thick, near-surface gold mineralization is continuing as expected!
Golden Cariboo announced that drill hole QGQ24-16, the first hole of the new exploration phase on the Halo Zone, intersected gold mineralization over a whopping 275.31 meters! From a depth of just 39.91 metres below surface, this very long interval of mineralization returned an average of 0.53 g/t gold. It also includes an equally impressive intercept of 50.99 meters with 1.28 g/t gold. And as the company explains, the strong continuity and wide mineralized intervals in the Halo Zone discovery have already been confirmed once again with this first drill hole!
Golden Cariboo has decided to drill further to the north to further define the Halo Zone, given the conditions observed in this round of drilling. According to the company, this is a drilling direction that is likely to intersect both the northeast-trending mineralized veins and the northwest-trending mineralized zone.
Every hole hits thick gold mineralization near the surface
To put the significance of this and Golden Cariboo’s recent drilling successes into context: CEO Frank Callaghan’s company is hitting long intervals of a very broad and continuous gold zone in the Halo Zone with every drill hole to date. And as Mr. Callaghan points out, these mineralized intercepts are similar in grade and width to those of many producing mines worldwide. The Halo Zone mineralization, though, has the added advantage of being close to surface and only 4 kilometers from a community, a railroad line and a major highway in north central British Columbia!
We are very curious to see whether the next drilling of the Halo Zone will solidify the emerging picture and expand the known mineralization once again, and we are definitely keeping our fingers crossed for the company.
