{australien_flagge}Important progress at FYI Resources (ASX FYI / WKN A0RDPF): Following the end of its collaboration with Alcoa, the company has picked up the pace and has now already completed a new production run at its pilot plant in Western Australia, producing high purity alumina (HPA).
The company said the end-to-end, 17-day production campaign produced large quantities of high-quality material intended for targeted product marketing to potential customers. In addition, samples of the new HPA material are also intended for certain end users who had requested special specifications.
FYI also announced that it was able to increase overall product output by 15% due to numerous improvements in the manufacturing process. These improvements, the company said, resulted primarily from changes in materials of construction and handling.
FYI has initially subjected the HPA now produced to several internal tests following the completion of the new test run of the production facility. According to the initial assessment of the production facility’s technical team, this indicates that this material is also in the upper range of product quality and purity achieved to date. Subsequently, however, the HPA product will also be independently tested for purity before going through the various finishing stages and samples will be shipped to potential customers for evaluation and qualification.
The company views this production run at its HPA facility as part of its long-term HPA strategy, as it is designed to meet specific product requirements from end customers with whom FYI says it has already established “strong relationships.”
FYI Resources Managing Director Roland Hill commented, “This small-scale production run through the pilot plant will allow FYI to analyze the performance efficiency of the process and optimize various aspects of the flowsheet. It also allows us to expand our relationships with potential customers by providing high quality HPA for qualification purposes to meet their specific needs. We will continue to complete the samples and ship to customers as soon as possible.”
Conclusion: It is good to see FYI Resources moving forward after the end of the cooperation with Alcoa and working on relationships with potential end customers with fresh HPA material. As we understand it, the improvements in the production process result at least in part from the knowledge and experience gained in the Alcoa collaboration. We are excited to see what the next steps are and what management plans for the future.
