New project diversifies portfolio further

First Lithium Minerals Corp. (CSE: FLM, OTC: FLMCF, FSE: X28) has acquired two additional exploration properties adjacent to the southwest and southeast of its existing LSL lithium pegmatite project in northwestern Ontario for C$50,000 and 4,000,000 common shares. In addition, the company has acquired a total of 175 mining claims totalling 3,573 hectares through direct staking. The total area of the LSL project is now 5,640 ha. Another new project in First Lithium’s Canadian portfolio is the Lidstone exploration property in the Thunder Bay Mining Division. This project has anomalous Ni-Cu-PGE mineralisation. The Company intends to geologically explore the newly acquired mining claims in the 2024 field season.

Rob Saltsman, CEO and Director of First Lithium Minerals, commented: “We are very excited about the new mining claims that double our exploration area at the LSL project, as well as the addition of Lidstone, our new exploration property that is prospective for critical metals such as nickel and copper in addition to lithium. Our technical team is eager to commence exploration work on the new exploration properties in 2024 in the hope of uncovering their exploration potential.”

The newly acquired lithium pegmatite claims, Solitude Lake and Hillside Lake, are located approximately 40 kilometres north of Savant Lake, Ontario, and are accessible via Provincial Highway 599 and forestry roads. Pegmatite veins have been observed in channel samples during historical exploration activities in the southwestern claims group located in the Solitude Lake township area. In addition, pegmatite units were identified in historical drill intercepts.

The newly acquired Lidstone exploration property

The Lidstone exploration property is located in the Thunder Bay Mining Division in northwestern Ontario, approximately 120 kilometres northeast of the town of Armstrong. The Lidstone mining claims group is located in the central part of the English River sub-province of Superior. Historical exploration work in the area indicates the presence of mafic-ultramafic intrusive rocks that host anomalous Ni-Cu-PGE mineralisation. This mineralisation appears to be associated with anomalous lithium (Li) grade geochemical clusters. Historic drilling on the Lidstone claim block has shown shallow, conspicuous intercepts of biotite and diorite that could be considered precursors to magmatic Ni-Cu-PGE sulphide mineralisation.

Conclusion: First Lithium’s flagship project remains the 9000 ha Lithium Salar Project OCA in the Antofagasta region of northern Chile. This project comprises the three salars Ollague, Carcote and Ascotan. In Q4/22 and Q1/23, First Lithium completed two property-wide geophysical surveys there and identified two priority exploration targets for potential brine mineralisation. First Lithium is currently awaiting the necessary drilling permits and licences for its first drilling programme in the Salar de Ascotan. The Ontario lithium hard rock projects expand and diversify the project portfolio, with the new Lidstone project potentially holding surprises in the direction of Ni-Cu-PGE mineralisation.
