Algo Grande Copper gears up: Top geologist to take Adelita project to the next level

Algo Grande Copper (WKN A41UK1 / TSXV ALGR) is setting the course for the next exploration and development phase of its Adelita copper, gold, and silver project: At the upcoming shareholders’ meeting, renowned expert Dr. Raymond Jannas is to be appointed to the board of directors. With this move, the company aims to strengthen its technical expertise while continuing exploration work at its large copper-gold-silver project in the Arizona-Sonora Copper Belt.

CEO Enrico Gay emphasized that Jannas’ experience in Latin America and with hydrothermal systems – including porphyry deposits and high-sulfidation environments – fits perfectly with the observations and theories to date regarding the Adelita project. From the management’s perspective, the new director’s primary role will be to set technical guidelines, contribute a strategic perspective, and provide the necessary technical oversight as the company scales up its exploration activities.

Algo Grande Copper: Reinforcement in the Board for the Adelita Project

The appointment of Dr. Raymond Jannas is therefore more than just a formal addition to the board for Algo Grande. In commodity exploration in particular, the quality of decisions often depends on how data is interpreted, objectives prioritized, and programs implemented in a disciplined manner. A board member with a strong geological/technical profile can help to strengthen the interface between operational exploration and overall corporate management.

Essentially, the aim is to accompany the upcoming steps in the Adelita project with a clear technical framework: Which geological models are being pursued? Where are the most promising zones within a larger system? And how can existing knowledge be used in such a way that new work builds on it in a measurable way? Algo Grande explicitly links Dr. Jannas’ appointment with the goal of executing the company’s next phase of growth in a structured and transparent manner. According to the company, Jannas will not only act as a geological sparring partner, but also as an authority who strengthens responsibilities and decision-making quality on the board.

Dr. Raymond Jannas: Focus on large hydrothermal mineral deposits

Dr. Raymond Jannas is an internationally recognized economic geologist with more than four decades of professional experience. His focus is on the exploration of large-scale hydrothermal mineral systems – in particular porphyry copper-gold systems and high-sulfidation environments. In the announcement, Algo Grande points out that Jannas has led and advised exploration teams involved in the discovery and development of several significant deposits, including Pascua-Lama, El Morro, and the Valeriano project (formerly Cortadera) in Chile.

His career includes both technical and senior management roles. He has held positions at ATEX Resources Inc., Gold Fields, Barrick Gold, LAC Minerals, Hochschild Mining, and Metallica Resources. In these roles, Jannas has built high-performing technical teams, designed exploration strategies, and guided large-volume porphyry discoveries from concept to resource definition, according to the company. Particular emphasis is placed on his time as President and CEO of ATEX Resources, during which the company was positioned as an explorer for deep, high-quality porphyry systems in the Andean Copper Belt.

Adelita Project: Skarn Corridor, Historical Data and Porphyry Hypothesis

Algo Grande describes itself as a growth-oriented exploration company developing the Adelita Project as a district-scale, multi-system opportunity for copper, gold, and silver. The project is located in the highly productive Arizona-Sonora Copper Belt and covers an area of 5,895 hectares. At its heart is the high-grade Cerro Grande discovery, described as a Cu-Au-Ag skarn.

Cerro Grande shows strong continuity along a defined corridor that extends for more than six kilometers. Such corridors are relevant in exploration practice because they can provide clues to contiguous mineralized structures – and thus to zones where systematic expansion and pursuit of mineralization appears to be warranted.

In addition to field work, the evaluation of older data also plays a role at Adelita. Algo Grande reports on the reprocessing of historical geophysical information and mapping in the field. According to the company, this work indicates that a potential porphyry system may exist at depth. Algo Grande is thus outlining a classic skarn-porphyry mineralization model: skarn mineralization at or near the surface, connected to a porphyry center at greater depth.

This model assumption is strategically important for the company because it influences the planning of further exploration – from the selection of target areas to the question of what data needs to be collected next in order to test the hypothesis. It is precisely at this interface between model, data basis, and program design that Algo Grande’s management wants to leverage Dr. Raymond Jannas’ expertise more effectively in the future, while Algo Grande continues to advance work on the Adelita project in a structured manner.
