Up to 33,600 cps
The pace is increasing! Canadian uranium company Aero Energy (TSXV AERO / Frankfurt UU3) only recently announced the start of drilling on its Murmac property in northern Saskatchewan but is already reporting initial findings that point to a “robust” uranium mineralization system.
As the company has just announced, high levels of radioactivity have been measured in the second drill hole at Murmac using a portable spectrometer. On average, 1,309 counts per second (cps) were measured in a section of 8.7 meters in length, with an extremely high 33,600 cps being measured in a section of 0.1 meters! The occurrence of anomalously high radioactivity is therefore a good sign, not only for this drill hole (M24-017), but for the drill campaign as a whole, because, as Aero CEO Galen MacNamara explains, it confirms the company’s exploration thesis and underlines the potential of the area under investigation.
Exploration thesis confirmed
This is because Aero’s drilling targets focus on potential uranium deposits in the bedrock, which are followed by drilling along graphitic conductor structures – in contrast to historical exploration efforts. And the increased radioactivity was measured in graphitic pelite! Especially noteworthy because drill hole M24-017 is the first hole in such an electromagnetic conductor structure that has not yet been investigated.
Drilling is ongoing and the high radioactivity zone remains open along strike in both directions and down dip and up dip. Aero Energy, together with its operating partner Fortune Bay, is already planning follow-up drilling to both further define and extend the zone of elevated radioactivity.
Further steps
In addition, eleven other particularly promising drill targets have already been identified at Murmac and approved for drilling. Numerous other targets are also being considered. Aero will now systematically collect drill core samples from all zones with radioactivity greater than 300 cps and send them to SRC Geoanalytical Laboratories in Saskatoon to be analyzed for uranium oxide (U3O8) and numerous other elements.
Conclusion: In our opinion, the discovery of elevated and in some cases extremely high radioactivity represents an extremely promising start to uranium drilling at Murmac! It confirms the company’s exploration thesis, underlines the potential of the area under investigation – and opens up many interesting possibilities for further discoveries, as Aeros CEO McNamara emphasizes. Now it all depends on what the laboratory analysis brings back, because then it could quickly become clear that Aero Energy is already on the right track!
