As reported earlier in October, the company had already constructed the associated drill camp, including internet connectivity, diesel tanks and geological offices.
Figure 1: Spey’s two projects, Candela II and Pocitos 1 and 2 are located in the middle of the famous lithium triangle on the Argentine side.
Phil Thomas, Spey’s newly minted CEO, stated, “These are exciting times for the company as we have received the green light to drill and have mobilized the drill rigs to Pocitos 1. Drilling has commenced on Pocitos 1 and we expect drilling to commence on Pocitos 2 around October 27, 2022.”
Summary: The neighborhood speaks for itself: in the Argentine lithium triangle, leading lithium companies such as Orocobre (ASX: ORE) or the Chinese state-owned Gangfeng Lithium cavort closely together. Spey has already drilled successfully on the Incahuasi project. Mike Rosko, the expert responsible for the resource report, has recommended a first production drill at Inhahuasi as the next step. The drilling at Pocitos is the first ever to be carried out there by Spey Resources. The company has the best chance of defining not just one, but several lithium resources in Argentina.
