{kanada_flagge}Approximately 3.6 kilometers east of the Blackjack discovery, Sitka Gold (TSX:SIG,FSE:1RF,WKN:A2JG70) has discovered visible gold during reconnaissance mapping on the Josephine Zone. In addition to this discovery, several other high-interest targets have been identified.
CONCLUSION: Sitka Gold is systematically exposing the large potential of its discovery at the RC Project by gaining a better understanding of the underlying structures and revealing relationships between the previously isolated individual discoveries of Blackjack, Saddle and Eiger. A prospective gangue zone exists between Saddle and Eiger in an east-west corridor. And the new Josephine zone lies further east again. The new data support the theory that the individual discoveries belong together and appear to be part of a large, gold-rich intrusive system that is interconnected at depth. As more data is released, it is becoming increasingly clear that the Sikta project continues to gain in quantity and quality.
Approximately 3.6 kilometers east of the Blackjack discovery, Sitka Gold (TSX:SIG,FSE:1RF,WKN:A2JG70) has discovered visible gold during reconnaissance mapping on the Josephine Zone. In addition to this discovery, several other high-interest targets have been identified.
At the RC Gold Project in the Tombstone Gold Belt in Canada’s Yukon province, Sitka Gold is currently drilling up to 10,000 meters of diamond drill holes. They are focused on expanding the company’s initial mineral resource estimate of 1,340,000 ounces of gold at the Blackjack and Eiger deposits.
So far this year, 12 drill holes totaling approximately 5,300 meters have been completed. In addition to drilling, further exploration work is taking place based on interpretation of new and historical geological and geochemical data.
Figure 1: The Josephine Zone is marked with a yellow star on the map. It is located 3.6 km east of Blackjack and about 1.5 east of the Eiger Zone, which is the farthest east discovery to date.
Mapping is also being carried out in the field. They are taking place primarily in the northern part of the Clear Creek intrusive complex. It contains the Saddle, Eiger, Josephine, Pukelman, Rhosgobel and Big Creek intrusions, which lie within a broad tectonic extensional zone.
Substantial mineralized veins and alteration zones have also been discovered within the Eiger intrusion. In addition, Sitka Gold has identified foliated veins and visible gold in hornfels south of the Josephine intrusion and mineralized veins within and adjacent to the western margin of the Pukelman intrusion. Last but not least, mineralized veins were confirmed within the Big Creek intrusion and the deposit was slightly expanded.
New discoveries made during the mapping work include, the identification of the surface expression of the mineralized Friendly Fault that intersects the Saddle Intrusion and is possibly sinistrally offset, the extension of the mapped surface expression of the Saddle Intrusion to the south and north, and the identification of a highly prospective vein zone in hornfelsic rocks in an east-west corridor between the Saddle and Eiger Intrusions.
Cor Coe, CEO and Director of Sitka Gold, was very excited by the discoveries as they support the belief that the Clear Creek Intrusive Complex, has the potential to host additional gold deposits of significant size and grade. In particular, the Josephine Zone raises new hopes due to the visible gold found there, as the zone appears to have the size and scale required for large intrusive-related gold deposits based on the work completed to date.
CONCLUSION: Sitka Gold is systematically exposing the large potential of its discovery at the RC Project by gaining a better understanding of the underlying structures and revealing relationships between the previously isolated individual discoveries of Blackjack, Saddle and Eiger.
