Unique, high precision radiation detector used
Searchlight Resources Inc (TSXV: SCLT; US: OTCQB: SCLTF) “Searchlight” has completed extensive airborne surveys on its Duddridge Lake and Daly Lake uranium rare earth projects in Saskatchewan just before the end of the exploration season. A total of 2,137.5-line kilometers were flown. Of these, 1,317.0-line kilometers were aeromagnetic and radiometric measurements at Daly Lake and 820.5 km were aeromagnetic and radiometric measurements at Duddridge Lake. The results are expected to be analyzed in early 2024.
Searchlight has employed a unique, high precision radiation detector to further survey its Kulyk Lake property. This detector is flown in a fixed wing aircraft at very low elevations, approximately one hundred meters above ground level, with a massive crystal array detector that can pinpoint radioactive elements such as uranium and thorium, to an area of 25 meters diameter on the ground. The survey technique is so sensitive that it can detect uranium bearing rock formations in outcrops, but also uranium-bearing boulders as small as a coffee table. Searchlight has found multiple new showings on its ground by following up on these targets from its prior airborne survey done in 2021.
This “Boulder Finder” has worked before. It led Fission Energy to its massive Paterson Lake South uranium discovery about ten years ago and led to a boom in exploration on the west side of the Athabasca Basin, an area previously of little interest.
Searchlight has a known boulder field on its Duddridge Lake property, with values up to 2% uranium oxide accompanying good values in cobalt, copper, and vanadium. It is looking for more of these targets using this high precision airborne survey, deployed for the first time.
Exploring for Uranium and Rare Earths together is a paradigm shift for mineral exploration in Canada. The model deposit being sought is like hard rock lithium deposits since the uranium and rare earths occur together in concentrated veins called pegmatites. The uranium and rare earths are melted out of the surrounding rocks in a similar fashion to the way alcohol is distilled from a mash of fermenting grain to produce a concentrated spirit such as whiskey. By analogy the Wollaston Domain host rocks are partially melted and critical elements including rare earths, uranium, and hafnium are concentrated in rich pegmatite veins. In the area Searchlight has been exploring there is abundant evidence of these deposits as over 54 showings of uranium and rare earths have been discovered, and none have yet been drill-tested.
The main targets of Daly Lake are located approximately 20 km south of the main targets of Kulyk Lake. The Daly Lake area has several REE occurrences with greater than 1% total rare earth element (TREE) content, including sample 99766 with 30,769 ppm (3.08%) TREE and sample 99812 with 29,466 ppm (2.95%) TREE. The Kulyk Lake and Daly Lake claims cover a total area of 395.5 square kilometers and host 54 known REE, thorium and uranium occurrences along a 30 km long zone.

Stephen Wallace, CEO of Searchlight commented, “The high-resolution radiometric survey technique has proven valuable in locating rare earth and uranium deposits in our initial survey, which is why we are extending coverage to the Daly Lake and Duddridge Lake properties. We expect final assay results in the next thirty days.”
Summary: Searchlight has a broad portfolio of mining projects at various stages of development in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The portfolio ranges from past-producing gold mines to several early-stage projects in the battery metals, rare earths, nickel and copper-zinc VMS sectors. The gold projects are four past producing underground operations near the Flin Flon mining centre. Searchlight is strategically focused on revitalizing the Flin Flon mining district, which historically comprised 30 copper mines and 45 gold deposits. The Duddridge Lake project, which was aerially surveyed this year, is perhaps particularly noteworthy. It contains, among other things, a historic uranium resource, which could generate new interest in the current uranium environment.
