{kanada_flagge}Portofino Resources (TSXV: POR; FRA: POTA) has mobilized its geological team to explore two lithium licenses, Greenheart Lake and McNamara Lake, in northwestern Ontario. The plan is to map the properties combined with sampling. The Greenhaert Lake property is approximately 1,200 hectares and the McNamara Lake property is approximately 1,120 hectares. Both properties are strategically located in the Balmoral and McNamara Lake areas of northwestern Ontario within 15 kilometers of the town of Ignace and are accessible by well maintained forest roads that branch off the Trans Canada Highway. Recently, several lithium explorers have been successful in the neighborhood.
Summary: Portofino Resources is taking a two-pronged approach to its lithium exploration. On the one hand, the company is pursuing prospective lithium brine projects in the South American Lithium Triangle in the Argentine provinces of Salta and Catamarca. Both projects are in close proximity to world-class deposits. However, Argentina’s environmental authorities have repeatedly proven to be extremely slow to act. Therefore, it makes sense that Portofino is still pursuing Canadian projects as well. Three projects alone, Allison Lake North, Greenheart Lake and McNamara Lake, are hard rock projects. Recent exploration successes by neighbor Grid Metals have shown that the area is promising. However, exploration is in its infancy, there.

The licenses are geologically located at the intersection of three rock formations of geological age: Wabigoon, East Wabigoon and Winnipeg River. These interfaces are known to be important geological settings for lithium and rare metal pegmatites.
The GL property is located 10 km southeast of International Lithium’s Raleigh Lake lithium project and 15 km northwest of Grid Metals’ Campus Creek lithium project (Figure 1). Grid Metals recently announced a new Li-bearing pegmatite discovery at Campus Creek where initial grab sample results returned between 0.22 and 4.35% Li2O.
The ML property is adjacent to the southern claim boundary of Grid’s Campus Creek property. The Company has the right to earn a 100% interest in each of the Greenheart Lake and McNamara Lake claim groups.
David Tafel, CEO of Portofino, commented, “Other lithium companies have had success in the region surrounding the Greenheart Lake and McNamara Lake properties. The Raleigh Lake pegmatite field and Grid Metals’ recent discovery in the area bodes well for our potential exploration success.”
