{kanada_flagge}Chile-based copper-gold explorer Pampa Metals (CSE: PM; FRA: FIRA; OTCQX: PMMCF) has released encouraging results from its latest pole-dipole induced polarization (“IP”) survey at the potential Cerro Chiquitin porphyry target in northern Chile. The surveys provide reliable data down to a depth of 600 meters.
Significant chargeability anomalies have been identified along four survey lines over a width of approximately 800 m to 1100 m (east-west), covering an area of approximately 1 km north-south and all open at depth. The measured IP anomalies are located on the 100% owned, 7,600 hectare Cerro Buenos Aires project in the central mineral belt of northern Chile, approximately 35 km southwest of the multi-million ounce El Peñon gold-silver mining district and approximately 210 km south-southwest of the giant Spence and Sierra Gorda copper mining cluster.
The IP study is used to prepare for drilling. An area covered by sand and gravels southeast of the known tourmaline breccia body at Cerro Chiquitín was confirmed as a priority target for further drilling. The IP survey conducted returned are interpreted in the context of the mapped geology as well as other geophysical studies and wide-area reverse circulation drilling, all completed and reported in 2021.
The IP chargeability anomalies reflect the presence of sulfide minerals in the subsurface, which will almost certainly include pyrite (iron sulfide), but possibly other sulfide minerals such as chalcopyrite (copper-iron sulfide – the most common copper mineral).
Encouragingly, drill holes CBA02 and CBA06 are coincident with some of the geophysical anomalies. These holes have high zinc and lead anomalies that could be geochemical indicators of the periphery of a mineralized copper porphyry system, along with lower arsenic and antimony and sporadic gold that could indicate an epithermal overprint.
The Company is now pursuing plans to drill additional diamond holes later this year.
