{kanada_flagge}Copper explorer Max Resource (TSX.V: MAX; OTC: MXROF; FRA: M1D2), active in northeastern Colombia, has identified two additional priority drill targets at its CESAR copper-silver project, “Sierra” at AM and “Potrero Grande” at URU, through the systematic follow-up of more than 1,000 sampling locations with grades >1.0% copper (see Figure 1). This brings the number of priority targets to now six: (Herradura, Sierra, Molino, Potrero Grande, URU South Target 1 and Target 2). At the same time, the regional program continues with the goal of identifying additional targets.
Conclusion: Max Resource has entered the 2023 exploration season with a reassuring financial cushion of more than CAD 15 million. Nevertheless, the company is rightly careful to prepare expensive drilling campaigns to the best of its ability. The challenge is that Max Resource is dealing with a huge area and with different types of mineralization. The good news is that high-grade copper is found throughout the project area – about one in six samples (1,125 samples) returned copper grades greater than 1.0% copper. The company is now trying to select those targets that will act as “feeder systems” for the massive copper system in the Cesar Belt. A total of six such primary targets have been identified to date. A few more targets could easily be added this season.

Over the past two years, 6,500 surface rock samples have been collected at the CESAR project, of which 1,125 returned values greater than 1.0% copper with an average of 3.5% copper and 36 g/t silver. Max’s geological team is systematically mapping the clusters of outcrops with grades greater than 1.0% copper and preparing detailed mapping to delineate the feeders.
Brett Matich, CEO of Max stated, “The ultimate goal of our detailed mapping and geophysics is to delineate multiple drill-ready targets along this massive copper system within Max’s 100% owned CESAR project.”
Figure 1: To date, Max has three districts and six priority targets on the 90-kilometer CESAR project.
Max is taking a two-pronged approach on its CESAR project: on the one hand, there is the evaluation and prioritization of existing targets within the 187 km² mining concessions for drill testing. On the other hand, there are regional sampling and exploration programs to identify additional copper-silver targets along the 90 km long CESAR belt.
Geological mapping, trenching, magnetic surveying and geochemical sampling have already begun and will be carried out on each of the existing targets in the coming weeks and months. Ground geophysical methods, including magnetotelluric (“MT”), magnetic, gravity, induced polarization (“IP”), and electromagnetic (“EM”) methods, will be tested. In addition, historical seismic data collected over the project areas will be reprocessed and interpreted.
