{kanada_flagge}EnviroMetal Technologies Inc. (CSE: ETI; FRA: 7N2) reports further successful results in tests of its cyanide-free gold recovery technology on refractory gold concentrates. EnviroMetal was able to recover an estimated 96.7% of contained gold in 24 hours from a sample specially pre-treated by Glencore Technology. All testing was conducted by EnviroMetal at its laboratory in Burnaby, British Columbia. The pretreatment included what is known as Albion Process™ technology. This is a combination of ultra-fine crushing and oxidative leaching at atmospheric pressure for processing refractory gold and copper ores and zinc concentrates.
Testing was conducted using the EnviroMetal leachant at three different concentrations to determine leaching efficiency, as measured by time to recover contained gold, and leaching gains. The sample gold concentrate was pre-treated using the so-called Albion Process™ at SGS’s Lakefield division and had a grade of 39.4 grams per tonne (“g/t”) gold. The first test, using a normal strength reagent as a baseline, resulted in a gold recovery of 96.7% within 24 hours and demonstrated rapid leaching kinetics with more than 89% of the gold recovered within 3 hours. Subsequent tests were performed with lower reagent strengths and shorter leaching times. Residues from all tests were sent to an external laboratory to obtain certified gold grades by fire assay.
The tests conducted with the EnviroMetal leachant confirmed its rapid kinetics, with leaching essentially complete in 5.25 hours. In addition, reducing the reagent strength resulted in only a moderate reduction in total gold recovery. Prolonged leaching can improve gold recovery if a lower reagent strength is used.
Commenting on the results, Duane Nelson, CEO of EnviroMetal, said: “The high recovery results could lead to the application of our technology for the treatment of refractory gold ores. Glencore Technologies is a world leader in oxidative atmospheric leaching technology and our environmentally friendly reagent has the potential to add significant value here.”
SGS is the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company. SGS is recognized as the global benchmark for quality and integrity. With more than 89,000 employees, SGS operates a network of more than 2,600 offices and laboratories around the world.
