{kanada_flagge}Desert Gold (TSXV: DAU; FRA: QXR2) is rapidly expanding its discovery at the new Gourbassi West North (“GWN”) gold zone at its SMZS gold project in Mali, West Africa. Desert Gold first discovered this zone last summer Through a series of drill holes, a 1,600 meter long gold-bearing corridor has now been identified along strike in a north-south direction, estimated to be 130 meters wide. Up to five distinct gold lenses run parallel in this corridor. This finding is also supported by recent drilling that Desert Gold is releasing today. These are results from 13 RC drill holes and 78 AC drill holes. The best RC hole returned 1.91 g/t gold over a length of 32meters, intersecting the aforementioned 5 lenses of gold mineralization. The estimated true widths of the results in the Gourbassi zone range from 60% to 90%. GWN remains open at depth and along strike to the south. Previous drilling only extends to a depth of 175 meters.
Key drill results from this portion of the program include: RC-049 – 1.91 g/t gold over 32.0 metres – A lens; AC-172 – 1.02 g/t gold over 49 metres – A lens; RC-050 – 1.02 g/t gold over 44 metres – A lens; RC-052 – 0.79 g/t gold over 47 metres – A lens; RC-048 – 0.68 g/t gold over 51 metres – A lens ; RC-049 – 0.60 g/t gold over 48 metres – C lens; AC-171 – 0.97 g/t gold over 29 metres – B lens; AC-138 – 0.69 g/t gold over 33 metres (hole ended in mineralization); RC-042 – 0.95 g/t gold over 22 metres – A lens; RC-050 – 0.93 g/t gold over 22 metres – C lens (see press release of 30. 06.2022).
Jared Scharf, President and CEO, stated, “The Gourbassi West North discovery is recent and therefore not yet part of our current resource estimate. The results demonstrate the tremendous gold resource in the region and the potential for resource expansion and additional discoveries at the SMSZ project.”
To date in 2022, a total of 94 holes totaling 4,372.5 meters have been drilled at the GWN Zone, including 3 core holes totaling 605.5 meters, 14 RC holes totaling 1,854 meters, and 78 AC holes totaling 2,066 meters (see Figure 1 for drill plan view). The drilling was designed to test the extent of the GWN zone over 1,800 metres along strike to a depth of 175 metres. The widest gold zones occur near the west side of a rotated section of a fault zone and silicified hydrothermal breccias. Mineralization generally dips steeply to the west; however, drill hole FR-DD-22-009 suggests that mineralization may also dip locally to the east. An updated section of the central, strongest part of the GWN zone is shown in Figure 2. Individual assay results range up to 8.68 g/t Au over 0.4 meters in the strongest part of the GWN-A lens.
A long section of the GWN-A lens shows an approximately 350 meter long, higher grade and wider part of the lens with extensions to the north and south (Figure 3). Results to date indicate that AC drilling has defined the northern end of the zone. However, the zone remains open to the south towards the Gourbassi West deposit.

Currently, Desert Gold geologists are modeling the GWN lenses to plan additional drill holes and update the resource estimate. Another high priority target is located approximately 2,400 meters northwest of the Gourbassi West North zone and is believed to be another target that may be similar to Gourbassi West North. This area needs to be drill tested.
Summary: Earlier this year, Desert Gold provided its maiden resource estimate for the SMSZ project – spread across the five sites of Gourbassi West, Gourbassi East, Linnguekoto West, Mogoyafara and Barani East totaling more than one million ounces. The discovery at Gourbassi North West was too recent at the time to be included in the resource calculation. Since then the pace and quality of the discovery speaks for GWN. Desert Gold has not made progress at similar pace at any other location on the 440 km² project. One does not have to be a clairvoyant to understand that Gourbassi North West will significantly increase the resource in the future. With just 4,300 meters of RC and AC drilling, GWN might deliver particularly “efficient ounces.” Desert Gold geologists believe that the GWN structure could be repeated further north. If this assumption is confirmed, this could be a game changer for Desert Gold.
