Drill hole ends in mineralization
Here we go: Brixton Metals (TSX-V BBB / WKN A114WV) presents the first drill results of the 2024 season from the giant Thorn copper and gold project. The current campaign is focused on the Camp Creek copper porphyry target, the most advanced of 16 large-scale exploration targets on the vast property. And as was just published, Brixton’s latest drill hole demonstrated copper mineralization over a length of more than one kilometer!
As CEO Gary Thompson’s company has announced, the porphyry mineralization in drill hole THN24-290, which is primarily copper-bearing, begins at a depth of 314.5 metres and only ends at 1,564 metres! However, it ended in mineralization and remains open in all directions.
In total, Brixton intersected 1467.73 meters (from 96.27 meters depth) averaging 0.28% copper equivalent (CuEq) in this hole. However, significant intervals of higher-grade copper, gold, silver and molybdenum mineralization were repeatedly encountered. Among them:
- – 960.40m with 0.21% Cu, 0.06 g/t Au, 2.71 g/t Ag, 279 ppm Mo or 0.39% CuEq
– 452.00m with 0.28% Cu, 0.08 g/t Au, 3.39 g/t Ag, 272 ppm Mo or 0.46% CuEq
– 391.50 m with 0.30 % Cu, 0.08 g/t Au, 3.59 g/t Ag, 294 ppm Mo or 0.49 % CuEq
– 121.50 m grading 0.35 % Cu, 0.14 g/t Au, 6.27 g/t Ag, 184 ppm Mo or 0.55 % CuEq
– 8.00m with 0.72% Cu, 0.25 g/t Au, 33.99 g/t Ag, 246 ppm Mo or 1.21% CuEq
– 150.73m grading 0.32% Cu, 0.04 g/t Au, 2.58 g/t Ag, 461 ppm Mo or 0.56% CuEq and
– 64.73m with 0.39% Cu, 0.07 g/t Au, 3.11 g/t Ag, 389 ppm Mo or 0.61% CuEq!
Which will significantly increase the volume of Camp Creek porphyry mineralization from this drill hole alone!
In any case, Christina Anstey, Head of Exploration at Brixton Metals, is delighted to be able to report these exceptionally long copper ore intersections from the first drill hole of the – fully funded – 2024 drilling season. Now, Ms. Anstey added, the company is already looking forward to receiving the results from two more deep holes. Drill hole 291 has already been completed and the samples are in the laboratory, while drilling at hole 294 is still ongoing. These holes were planned as step-out holes to the northwest from previous drill sites on Camp Creek.
In addition, Brixton also expects to receive results from three holes drilled in the Cirque copper target area in the foreseeable future. Cirque is only about 3 kilometers east of Camp Creek, which is encouraging in that copper porphyries often occur in clusters, as Ms. Anstey recently explained. In addition, significant intercepts of chalcopyrite mineralization have been observed at surface in the Cirque area, which the geologist considers very promising, along with the geophysical signatures consistent with Camp Creek. Further geophysical surveys have been completed at Cirque and the nearby North Copper target area, while geochemical surveys and mapping continue there.
Conclusion: The extent of mineralization that Brixton has demonstrated with the latest drilling at the Camp Creek target is impressive. This is exactly what copper porphyries are all about, mineralization over very long, continuous sections, some of which are kilometers long, even if the grades are perhaps not that high. The main focus here is on the largest possible volume of copper mineralization and the potential for this is probably what originally prompted BHP to take a stake in Brixton. In any case, we consider the results reported today to be a very successful start to the exploration season. We are excited to see what further drilling, especially at Cirque, too, will bring.
