{kanada_flagge}Tembo Gold Corp. (TSX-V:TEM;FSE:T23A) is gaining an ever better understanding of the controlling structures for gold mineralization at its eponymous Tembo gold project in the Lake Victoria greenstone belt near Barrick’s 20-million-ounce Bulyanhulu project in Tanzania. Geologists have identified three structures that develop and intersect in three main directions. They run east-west, northeast-southwest and northwest-southeast (similar to Bulyanhulu).

Geologists have identified three structures that develop and intersect in three main directions. They run east-west, northeast-southwest and northwest-southeast (similar to Bulyanhulu).
The company has just released the second part of its exploratory drilling on the Ngula 1 target. Ngula is a known 600 m long and 120-200 m wide zone that hosts multiple east-west trending shear zones. These shear zones host gold mineralization almost everywhere within several strongly sheared, altered and veined structures.
Recent drilling on the target area totaled 1,390 m and 11 holes (excluding one abandoned hole). A number of holes targeted a known northeast trending structure that had never been drilled. Strong sulphide mineralization encountered in this crosscutting structure returned positive gold results that are expected to improve with depth. The best intercepts encountered in recent drill holes include 5.22g/t Au over 1.93m from 107.18m; 4.14g/t Au over 3.85m from 118.49m, including 7.03g/t Au over 2.08m; 19.90g/t Au over 0.57m from 35.24m; and 1.68g/t Au over 5.28m from 72.45m. All holes logged and sampled to date intersected multiple gold mineralization, with the exception of one hole.
Hendrik Meiring, Exploration Manager at Tembo, stated, “Recent drilling has provided important geological information. A detailed structural study will help us target future planned drill targets and possible extensions along strike of known mineralized structures.”
David Scott, President & CEO of Tembo, said, “The Ngula 1 target has once again delivered a number of encouraging results, highlighting the potential of the newly drilled northeast-trending cross structure that hosts very good mineralization. It is critical that we now analyze the structural data that this drilling has provided in anticipation of resource drilling and follow up the high grade zones along the fall line as well as the main gold carriers along strike and down dip.”
The company completed a total of 4,648 m of the planned 7,000 m of drilling before drillers took a break in December. The latest results show robust geology. In particular, the cross structures and their intersections with the main structures and other northwest trending cross structures are considered key components to the broad and high-grade mineralization at Ngula 1.
