Copper and gold explorer Brixton Metals (TSXV BBB / WKN A114WV) is off to a good start this year. As the company reports, wide copper mineralization intersections were once again drilled at Camp Creek, a large porphyry system within Brixton’s Thorn project.
Hole THN22-213, for example, returned an average copper equivalent grade (CuEq) of 0.34% over a length of 709 meters (from a depth of 534 meters)! In addition, there were several, higher grade intercepts including:
– 484 meters at 0.41% CuEq,
– 362 meters at 0.44% CuEq,
– 102.15 meters at 0.61% CuEq and
– 64.15 meters at 0.65% CuEq.
In addition, Brixton’s drill hole THN22-231 assayed 0.30% copper equivalent over as much as 778.08 meters (from 519.5 meters depth), including:
– 531 meters with 0.36% CuEq and
– 102.00 meters at 0.46% CuEq.
It is especially promising that the copper-dominated porphyry mineralization remains wide open – even at depth!

And, as Brixton CEO Gary Thompson explains in light of the once again encouraging results, the potential extent of the Camp Creek porphyry target is now indicated, as the distance between the now reported drill holes alone is 420 meters. Drill hole 213 is located 235 meters southwest of drill hole 201-184 and drill hole 231 is located approximately 280 meters north of 201-184…
Brixton has not yet processed all of the data from last year, nor has an initial, technical meeting been scheduled with mining giant BHP, which acquired a 19.9% stake in Brixton in late 2022. According to Mr. Thompson, however, one of the exploration objectives for 2023 may be to identify the high-grade copper core of the Camp Creek prospect and to explore the boundaries of the mineralization system.
But it could be some time before those are reached, as the acid-sulfate alteration and geochemical expression of Camp Creek is under cover further to the east-northeast, and is also unconformably overlain by a late rhyolite flowdome complex, which, Brixton says, suggests that porphyry mineralization continues beneath this cover of volcanic origin. And that would suggest a porphyr target area of 1 by 2 kilometers!
Vice President of Exploration, Christina Anstey, is also encouraged by the significant size potential of the Camp Creek copper porphyry target. In particular, she sees potential to the east, yet to be confirmed by assays, where Brixton has not yet drilled to greater depth.
Now, according to the company, results are pending for hole THN22-221, which was drilled 275 meters northeast of THN22-201. This hole was advanced to a depth of 1,375.13 meters and ended in visibly similar porphyry mineralization.
Conclusion: Brixton continues at Camp Creek in the new year where the team left off last year – with robust drill results. The results now reported may not sound as spectacular as the 262 meters of 1.04 g/t gold the company presented at the end of 2022 from the Trapper target – also part of the Thorn project – but they point to a large, high-volume copper deposit that could be of great interest to anchor shareholder BHP in particular. In any case, we are already looking forward to the pending results and the exploration activities that Brixton and BHP will plan for 2023!
