{kanada_flagge}Sitka Gold Corp (CSE: SIG; FRA: 1RF; OTCQB:SITKF) continues to systematically expand its blackjack discovery at its RC Gold Project in the Yukon. Initial results from stepout drilling again support the potential size and richness of the Blackjack Zone and an approximately 2 km x 500 m extension corridor (see Figure 1).
Figure 1: Overview of the two kilometer corridor at the RC Gold Project. This summer, drilling has focused on the Blackjack Zone to the west. Sitka aims to prove that the three sub-areas of Blackjack, Saddle and Eiger form a coherent mineralization.
In total, Sitka has drilled 16 diamond drill holes this summer for a total length of 5,250 meters. Results from the first six holes (DDRCCC-22-026 to DDRCCC-22-031) are now available. An additional 10 drill results are pending, 9 from the Blackjack Zone and 1 from the so-called MayQu target. Highlights of recent results include drill hole DDRCCC-22-030 with 0.90 g/t Au from surface over 146.6 m, including 33.8 m of 1.42 g/t Au from 2.84 m. Also of note is hole DDRCCC-22-029 at 0.65 g/t Au 116.0 m with from 27.0 m to 143.0 m, including 19.0 m at 1.02 g/t Au from 124.00 m.
Commenting on the results, Cor Coe, P.Geo., CEO and Director of Sitka stated, “Results from the first six holes of our summer drill program returned significant gold-bearing intercepts demonstrating the continuity of gold mineralization in this expanding zone. All holes were mineralized along their entire length and had highly anomalous gold values from surface to depth. The present drill holes to date have demonstrated high grade mineralization associated with a structural zone of late and post mineral intrusive dykes extending over 400 meters east-west and over 450 meters width within our main intrusive body on a north-south orientation. This stepout drilling demonstrates the potential size and richness of the Blackjack Zone and the approximately 2 km x 500 m extension corridor. We eagerly await results from the remaining drill holes to further expand this newly discovered gold occurrence within our road accessible district-scale RC gold project.”

Each additional drill hole improves understanding of structures hosting mineralization. Mineralization is observed in both intrusive and metasedimentary bedrock. At the same time, the new drilling provides the necessary spatial density for an initial resource estimate. Combined with newly processed lidar data and interpretation of an airborne magnetic geophysical survey, Sitka is already planning for the next Phase III drilling program.
Conclusion: Sitka has pulled out a winner with the Blackjack discovery. The continuity and thickness of the mineralization is impressive and bodes well for the ten drill results still to come. Sitka could be in for more excitement, however, with the company on the trail of a Carlin Gold-style discovery at its Alpha Project in Nevada. Exploration is underway there as well, and initial results should not be long in coming.
