Ecograf had filed the patent application titled “Method of Producing Purified Graphite” (US application number 17/626,425) on November 1, 2022. Following successful examination, Ecograf has now received a Notice of Allowance. The patent will follow after payment of the grant fee. Thereafter, the technology will be protected in the US until November 2042.

The technology complies with the U.S. Treasury Department IRA guidelines on the new criteria for clean vehicle credits. The method is intended as an alternative cleaning technology for manufacturers of battery anode material for lithium-ion batteries. The patent also protects the use of the technology in recycling anodes for lithium-ion batteries. Battery recycling is now recognized as an important part of the transition to clean energy, with increasing requirements for increased recycling in the EU and U.S.
EcoGraf’s HFfree™ cleaning technology was developed by the company in Australia in 2017 and has since been refined through extensive testing and analysis in Australia, Europe and Asia. EcoGraf has filed patents and trademarks in all major battery markets to protect the intellectual property associated with this process. Patents have also been filed under the Patent Convention Treaty (PCT) in all major planned battery manufacturing centers, including the EU, Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, East Africa, South Africa and Australia.
To ensure full protection of its technology in the U.S., EcoGraf has also filed a continuation application based on its current U.S. patent application.
