{australien_flagge}The high grade copper-gold mineralization at Bluebird can be proven by IP measurements. As a result, Tennant Minerals (ASX: TMS; FRA: UH7A) now holds the geophysical fingerprint for underground mineralization at its Bluebird discovery and beyond within a 2 kilometer radius of the Bluebird-Perseverance target zone.
Based on it’s successful IP surveys, Tennant Minerals is initially continuing to drill the Bluebird copper-gold discovery on the eastern margin of the Tennant Creek Copper-Gold Mineral Field (TCMF). Up to 10 holes are planned to extend the extent of the Bluebird discovery to depth and to the west, where new induced polarization (IP) geophysics indicates a repeat of the previously encountered high-grade zone.
The drill program is expected to cover up to 3,000 m and extend the Bluebird discovery to more than 400 m below surface. Recent results such as 40 m @ 2.6% Cu, 1.34 g/t Au from 131 m hole depth (including 4.75 m @ 15.2% Cu) in BBDD0013 indicate that the upper high-grade thickened zone at Bluebird (that produced intersections such as 63m @ 2.1% Cu, 4.6 g/t Au in BBDD0012) is open to the west. The first hole of the new drilling campaign is testing extensions of this zone west of BBDD0013.
The deepest intersection of 17.8 m at 3.7% Cu and 0.34 g/t Au at 277 m depth (including 9.5 m at 6.0% Cu) in BBDD0015 indicates the proximity of a second high-grade thickened zone at depth (see Figure’s 1 and 2). Drilling will also test this zone at more than 400 m below surface to expand the mineral resource potential of the Bluebird discovery.
Induced polarization (IP) geophysics conducted on four sections above and west of Bluebird returned low resistivity, high chargeability IP responses and indicated potential extensions of the high grade zone 100 m to the west. This zone will also be drill tested as part of this program (see Figure 1).
Matthew Driscoll, Chairman of Tennant Minerals, sees the potential to significantly expand Bluebird. He commented, “Our geophysical programs, including new IP results, have allowed us to fingerprint the Bluebird discovery and show the potential for repeats of the high-grade copper-gold zone west of Bluebird within the two-kilometer Bluebird-Perseverance corridor, which we also plan to drill test.”
“With each new drill hole, the potential for a significant new copper-gold field at the Barkly project grows”, Driscoll said.
Tennant wants to finally unlock the “true potential” of their Barkly Project, which lies at the eastern end of the Tennant Creek mineral field, which produced more than 5 million ounces of gold and more than 500kt of copper from 1934 to 2005.
Bluebird mineralization can be proven by IP measurements
Results from the IP program have shown pronounced low resistivity (high conductivity) and coincident chargeability consistent with Bluebird mineralization in the central 448,360mE intercept, confirming that Bluebird can be proven by IP. This section includes the exceptional BBDD0012 intersection of 63m @ 2.1% Cu, 4.6 g/t Au.
IP results on step-out sections to the west of the recent drilling, at 448,300mE and 448,240mE, have also returned low resistivity/high chargeability IP responses to date, indicating a western extension of high-grade copper-gold-sulphide mineralization. Three holes are planned to test the strong IP anomaly at 448,240mE, which represents a 100m extension west of previous high grade intercepts such as BBDD0013 (40m @ 2.6% Cu and 1.34 g/t Au)1 (see Figure 1 below).
Figure 1: Longitudinal projection of Bluebird showing high-grade copper-gold intercepts and Phase 2 drilling.
Figure 2: Cross section 448,340mE showing intercepts in BBDD0013, 14 and 15 and previous drill hit BBDD0011.
Interpretation of key drill intercepts indicates that the thick and high-grade copper and gold intercepts in BBDD0012 and BBDD0013 are associated with steeply dipping structures that intersected the axis of a shallowly dipping anticline (see longitudinal projection, Figure 1 and cross-section, Figure 2). This association with anticlinal fold structures is analogous to other major discoveries at Tennant Creek, including the Warrego copper-gold deposit, which produced 6.75 million tonnes at 1.9% Cu and 6.6 g/t Au, and Castille Resources’ (ASX. CST) Rover 1 discovery, located southwest of Tennant Creek, where a mineral resource of 4.7 million tonnes at 1.63% Cu and 1.73 g/t Au was recently reported.
Multiple copper-gold targets found within Bluebird corridor
Interpretation of new detailed drone magnetic imagery and models (Figure 3) combined with detailed gravity data has identified 12 coincident magnetic-gravitational copper-gold targets within a 2 km long Bluebird-Perseverance “target zone” extending west of the high-grade Bluebird2 copper-gold discovery. This main target zone includes an exceptionally strong magnetic-gravitational feature located below the historic Perseverance gold workings (see Figure 3).
Figure 3: Bluebird Perseverance magnetic image showing structures and magnetic-gravitational targets.
Previous RC drilling under Perseverance returned shallow high-grade gold intercepts such as 3m @ 50.0 g/t Au from 42m in PERC015 and 3m @ 43.2 g/t Au from 72m in PERC0016. These high-grade gold intercepts were not followed up and the underlying ironstone copper-gold target remains to be drill tested.
Going forward, Tennant Creek plans to drill further to test the priority copper-gold targets identified from magnetic and gravity modeling and new results of the IP survey within the Bluebird-Perseverance target zone.
CONCLUSION: Tennant Minerals has succeeded in correlating high-grade mineralization at its Bluebird discovery and IP measurements. How effectively this data match can be used will soon be demonstrated by the new drilling at Bluebird, where a continuation of the known high-grade mineralization is suspected, particularly to the west. Of course, if Tennant Minerals generates drill-hits here, the Bluebird project itself would get bigger first. That in itself would be a great success. But more importantly, it should be possible to apply the process to the 12 targets that Tennant Minerals has identified within a 2-kilometer radius, including, in particular, the large Perseverance target, whose magnetic-gravity footprint is many times larger than that of Bluebird. Tennant has a real story!
