Sonoro’ s gold project is right next to operating mines from Premier Gold and Agnico
Due to COVID-19 restrictions Sonoro Metals has experienced delays in forging concrete agreements with the chinese EPC-companies who should develop/finance a smaller scale gold operation at Cerro Caliche. The break was though used for compiling comprehensive exploration data (historic and current) from the area and from the surroundings.
Sonora sees geological similarities to most gold mines in Northern Mexico overall and to the Merdcedes Mine in particular. Cerro Caliche lies on strike with the underground mine from Premier Gold. The Merdcedes Mine has had its deep deposit not from the beginning. It started as an open pit. Like most epithermal gold deposits in that part of Mexico there is low grade, large scale and shallow gold mineralization.
Once financing of the next drill campaign is completed Sonoro will start exploring the project up to 300-400 metres below surface. A lot of soil samples found close to surface host gold grades of up to 95 g/t and this gold must come from somewhere.
