McCallum apparently sees great potential for Q2 Metals’ 86 km2 Mia lithium project in the James Bay region of Quebec. Literally, he stated when he signed on, “I recognized the potential of the Mia property several years ago and have kept an eye on it ever since. The Mia property has flown under the radar until now because it was tied up in a gold-focused company. So, I’m really looking forward to finally unlocking the tremendous potential lithium value.”
Neil McCallum is a professional geologist with over 18 years of experience in North America. He has served as an independent director for several publicly traded companies and has put numerous clients on the successful path to discovery and resource definition. Over the past 7 years, he has been involved in the identification and acquisition of early stage lithium projects throughout North America. In 2016, McCallum identified and tagged the Corvette property for then 92 Resources (predecessor to Patriot Battery Metals) as a property amenable to lithium exploration. Since then, Patriot has grown into a company with a market capitalization of over CAD 900 million and has one of the best lithium pegmatite projects in Canada.
After graduating from the University of Alberta in 2004, he worked at Dahrouge Geological Consulting Group and was involved in the exploration and development of a variety of commodities including industrial minerals (limestone, coal), strategic commodities (REE, tantalum, niobium, graphite), energy commodities (uranium, lithium, cobalt, vanadium) and traditional mineral commodities such as gold, copper, silver and other base metals. He has managed a range of projects from baseline prospecting to resource definition drilling and resource modeling, and over the course of his career has become an expert in compiling regional metallogenic databases to generate new targets and gain a better perspective for targeting and acquiring projects.
