{kanada_flagge}A new study from the Colorado School of Mines suggests that Goliath Resources (TSX-V: GOT; OTCQB: GOTRF; FRA: B4IF) has so far only found the tip of the iceberg with its Surebet discovery. Scientists note that the fluids responsible for the gold mineralization in the Surebet discovery are magmatic in origin and originate from a depth of 5-7 kilometers. The petrographic studies indicate a deep-seated porphyry source that may be causative not only for the mineralization of the Surebet zone itself, but also for other recently discovered outcrops on the Golddigger project along an eight kilometer trend. Goliath had commissioned the study to better understand the genesis of the mineralization on its project.

Based on these new findings, Goliath recently more than doubled its land package from 23,859 hectares to 54,771 hectares. The newly staked properties extend 56 kilometers along the fracture zone of the so-called “Red Line” and offer tremendous additional discovery potential in vast areas of new outcrops recently created by the permanent retreat of glaciers. The Red Line marks the contact between the Stuhini Group rocks and the Hazelton Group, which is believed to be an important marker with most of the world-class multi-million ounce Golden Triangle deposits located within ~2.5 km).
Figure 1: Goliath has recently doubled its land position and now holds exploration licenses on both sides of the geological contact of the so-called “red line” (red).
Dr. Quinton Hennigh, Technical and Geological Director of Crescat Capital, a strategic shareholder of Goliath Resources, commented; “The work recently done by Dr. Thomas Monecke’s team at the Colorado School of Mines shows a very clear genetic model that Surebet was formed from magmatically derived fluids, possibly from an as yet unidentified porphyry source. This bodes well for the discovery of even more extensive mineralization in the region around Surebet and at depth.”
Roger Rosmus, founder and CEO of Goliath Resources, drew parallels to GT Gold’s discovery of the gold-rich copper porphyry system, “One could make a possible analogy to GT Gold’s initial discovery of the Saddle South deposit, a precious metal-rich vein system that eventually led to the discovery of the Saddle North deposit. All of the work to date, totaling only 6 months of boots-on-the-ground, indicates that we have only just begun to scratch the surface at Golddigger and are likely only seeing the tip of the iceberg.”
At least 21 drill pads and approximately 20,000 meters of drilling are planned for the 2023 drill season, with a focus on expanding the known extent of the 1.6-square-kilometer Surebet Zone and the newly identified GoldenGate Feeder Zone, which contains very high-grade gold mineralization and visible gold in drill core and surface samples with grades up to 924.4 g/t Au (29.7 ounces Au) and 3,023 g/t Ag (97.1 ounces Ag). Prospecting and potential drilling will also take place along the newly discovered Surebet corridor, which extends 8 km north-south and covers an area of ~30 square kilometers.
Excellent infrastructure exists around the Golddigger property: roads, a tidal barge dock, a high voltage power line, accommodation for 300 employees in Kitsault with road access to Terrace and Prince Rupert.
SUMMARY: Roger Rosmus rightly reminds us that Goliath made its past discoveries in what was effectively an extremely short period of only 6 months during which geologists could be on site. The recent study by the Colorado School of Mines underscores the tremendous additional discovery potential that exists at Golddigger in the coming years. After all, the project has now grown to 540 km² north and south of the Red Line.
