EcoGraf Limited's (ASX: EGR; FRA: FMK) sustainably produced battery anode material outperforms in quality the reference material from existing manufacturers that use highly toxic hydrofluoric acid (HF) to produce battery graphite from natural graphite. This is the result of an extensive product qualification program conducted by Ecograf in conjunction with a major anode manufacturer. The program for the potential customer was to evaluate the performance of the HF-free product that EcoGraf will produce at its new battery anode material facility in Western Australia.
The preparation of the product sample included the completion of an extensive mechanical shaping program using commercial equipment in collaboration with a leading international equipment manufacturer (see ASX Announcement Commercial Scale Program Delivers 20% Product Yield Increase 14 July 2021), followed by RF-free purification through a pilot plant EcoGraf constructed with one of Australia's leading mineral testing organizations, where the Company conducted its pre-construction purification programs (see ASX Announcement Pre-Construction Locked-Cycle Testwork Completed 27 May 2021).
The EcoGraf product sample not only met the anode manufacturer's physical and chemical specifications, but also performed better than reference materials in electrochemical half-cell tests. The company is delighted with the results, which are further confirmation of the effectiveness of its environmentally superior EcoGraf™ processing technology in providing anode, battery and electric vehicle manufacturers with high-quality, sustainably produced battery anode material.
Ecograf is in the process of finalizing construction plans for its new, state-of-the-art EcoGraf™ battery anode material plant. The plant will be the first of its kind internationally and will supply products to the rapidly growing battery markets in Asia, Europe and North America.
