First Drilling in Rhosgobel Intrusion Yields 119 Meters with 1.05 g/t Gold!
The visual results of the first two drill holes that Canadian gold company Sitka Gold (WKN A2JG70 / TSXV SIG) had ever sunk in the Rhosgobel Intrusion area had already exceeded the company’s expectations in early October, showing visible gold in numerous locations. The drilling results now presented are equally impressive, boasting strong grades over substantial mineralized sections!
Rhosgobel is the largest and southernmost of the intrusions identified so far in the Clear Creek Intrusive Complex (CCIC) – part of Sitka’s RC Gold property in the Yukon – located about 5 kilometers from the company’s already defined Blackjack deposit. The known intrusions within the CCIC cover an area of about 8 by 15 kilometers (!) and, according to Sitka, likely have a common magmatic source at depth. All intrusions also show gold mineralization, which the company believes indicates that the CCIC forms a large mineralized system with the potential to host multiple gold deposits.
Both Drill Holes with >1 g/t Gold over Significant Widths
This hypothesis is further supported by the drilling results now reported. Sitka reported for drill hole DDRCRG-24-001, the first diamond core drilling ever conducted on Rhosgobel, a substantial 164.8 meters grading 0.82 g/t Gold, starting just 9 meters below the surface! This includes sections of 119 meters at 1.05 g/t gold, 37.9 meters at 2.05 g/t gold, and 11.5 meters at 4.32 g/t gold. An interval of 1.8 meters starting at 102 meters depth even yielded 16.25 g/t gold!
Drill hole DDRCRG-24-002 also produced strong gold mineralization with 0.6 g/t gold over 173.3 meters, including 28.4 meters at 1.37 g/t gold and 12.4 meters at 2.43 g/t gold! The company also reported that the initial drilling at Rhosgobel encountered numerous sheeted veins and multiple occurrences of visible gold, with results confirming that the strong gold mineralization continues from the surface to at least 300 meters depth!
Map showing multiple priority target areas in the recently consolidated Clear Creek Intrusive Complex and the location of the 2024 completed diamond drilling on the Rhosgobel Intrusion, approximately 5 km south of the Blackjack and Eiger deposits. The Rhosgobel Intrusion is approximately 3 km long and 2 km wide. Higher-grade gold mineralization is modeled along sections of structural corridors that form conduits for gold mineralization. A large mineralized system characterized by numerous gold-bearing intrusions and intersecting structural corridors, similar to that defined in the Blackjack deposit, exists in many other target areas within the Clear Creek Intrusive Complex.
Assay results are still pending for six additional diamond core drill holes, including the first ever drilled on the Pukelman Intrusion, located about 2 kilometers southeast of the Blackjack gold deposit. Here too, sheeted veins along with occurrences of visible gold have already been observed in drill cores…
As Sitka CEO Cor Coe explained, the expectations for the first Rhosgobel drilling were exceeded. Coe, a geologist himself, sees them as confirmation that the robust gold mineralization continues to a depth of at least 300 meters. Laterally, Coe continued, the mineralization, which is contained within a very large – 2 x 1.5 kilometer with values of >100 to >500 ppb – gold-in-soil anomaly, is still open in all directions.
This, the experienced geologist went on to explain, is a good omen for the discovery of a third significant gold deposit on the RC Gold project. Elsewhere on the project site, it had already been shown in the past that geochemical surface features would show a strong correlation with underlying intrusion-related gold mineralization – as for example in the still-growing Blackjack deposit.
Conclusion: The drill results presented today by Sitka Gold are impressive not only due to their grades and length of mineralized sections, but also reaffirm that Rhosgobel has the potential to prove a deposit containing several million ounces of gold! Contributing to this is the fact that previous, historical drilling (Kennecott, 1995) had demonstrated widespread gold mineralization within the Rhosgobel intrusion, but only to shallow depths. However, with the first diamond core drilling, Sitka has encountered gold mineralization at significantly greater depths, thus revealing the potential for a much larger mineralization system! Following a recent financing, Sitka Gold now has CAD 15 million in cash, thanks to which, as the company is also completely debt-free, it is in an excellent position to advance this and other targets on RC Gold!
