Up to 1.45 g/t Gold Over 137 Meters Drilled as Part of a 342 Meter Section!
The latest results from the 2024 drilling campaign of Golden Cariboo Resources Ltd. (CSE:GCC; OTC:GCCFF; FSE:3TZ) are once again a true sensation! As the company reports, they have discovered another massive section of high-grade gold mineralization with drill hole QGQ24-20 in the Halo Zone discovery!
The Halo Zone is part of Golden Cariboo’s Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine property, and CEO Frank Callaghan’s company encountered 0.71 g/t gold and 6.96 g/t silver over an impressive 341.96 meters with QGQ24-20! And the gold mineralization began at a depth of just 20.12 meters below the surface…
As if that weren’t enough, this massive mineralization section contains several equally long intervals with significantly higher metal grades. These include:
– 0.99 g/t gold with 9.8 g/t silver over 236.88 meters including
– 1.45 g/t gold and 16.05 g/t silver over 137.7 meters!
This last section also includes mineralization intervals of 7.36 g/t gold with 164.95 g/t silver over 11.95 meters and 16.35 g/t gold with 9.09 g/t silver over 4.29 meters. (However, core recovery for these last sections was only 43% and 46% respectively, which could lead to overall lower values due to the loss of mineralized, sulphide-bearing, brecciated, fractured and/or altered material.)
Halo Zone Expanded Horizontally by 100 Meters to the Northwest
With the spectacular drill intersections presented today, Golden Cariboo has expanded the Halo Zone by another 100 meters to the northwest from drill hole QGQ24-19. Today’s drill hole QGQ24-20 is thus the furthest northwest drill hole on the property to date. Golden Cariboo has now delineated an irregular body of approximately 320 x 290 x 320 meters for the Halo Zone. However, the mineralization remains open to the northwest and at depth. This includes 718 meters of untested strike length to the north-northwest towards the former producing Pioneer Mine!
Important Insights Gained
Drill hole QGQ24-20, which was set with an azimuth of 354° and a dip of -45°, was the last drill hole of the 2024 drilling program. The aim was to determine the continuity of the Halo Zone to the northwest and to search for higher grades as previously encountered in the western part of the zone, particularly in QGQ24-13, which yielded 136.51 meters at 1.77 g/t gold! With drill hole QGQ24-20, Golden Cariboo has once again successfully identified higher gold grades associated with a large fault along a greenstone contact between the mafic to intermediate volcanic host rock and the gold mineralization (greenstones) and a black argillite unit.
The historical Quesnelle Quartz Mine on the property is similarly located along the greenstone contact and marks a significant development as the greenstone contact was first encountered in the Halo Zone in QGQ24-20. The Halo Zone and the Quesnelle Quartz Mine are both located within a several-kilometer-long trend that extends across the entire property. In subsequent drill holes, Golden Cariboo will now test the northwestern continuity of the Halo Zone along the greenstone contact.
Significant Discovery in the Cariboo Gold District
As Golden Cariboo’s CEO Frank Callaghan explained, this remarkable drilling concludes an overall remarkable year for Golden Cariboo. The fact that they have once again succeeded in delivering such an exceptional mineralization intersection 100 meters away from the previous drill hole confirms the Halo Zone as a significant discovery in the Cariboo Gold District, according to Callaghan. The Golden Cariboo CEO pointed out that greenstone contact zones are present in many of the world’s most important gold camps – and that Golden Cariboo has now proven such a zone just 4 kilometers away from a major highway and a community in the middle of British Columbia!
“The next chapter of another bedrock source of the long and legendary Cariboo Gold Fields is now being written in Hixon,” Mr. Callaghan stated.
It will be very exciting to see how this new chapter unfolds, as Golden Cariboo has already begun the 2025 exploration program – including drilling. Among other things, soil samples taken in 2024 have revealed a zone of anomalous gold values extending across the entire survey grid in a north / northwest direction. The strike length is at least 1,650 meters and is open for extensions both to the north and south. As the company’s geologists explained, this zone is directly related to the known gold mineralization of the Halo and North Hixon zones. Additional significant gold targets have also been highlighted, and the company is already analyzing the received data in detail. We will definitely keep you updated!
