{australien_flagge}FYI Resources Ltd (ASX: FYI; FRA: SDL) and Alcoa of Australia have successfully completed the second week of trial production of high purity alumina (HPA). Apparently, the trials reached the “upper limit of internal expectations.” The trial run was the second one-week operation of the pilot plant. A total of four separate trials are planned.
Commenting on the pilot plant trial, Roland Hill, Managing Director of FYI, said, “The expanded pilot plant program is proceeding according to plan. Not only are we continuing to gain important technical knowledge and learn from the incremental improvements we are incorporating into each pilot plant run, but we are also seeing an increasing trend in operational improvements. We expect this to lead to further advances in product quality and overall project economics.”
Bottom line: everything is currently going according to plan at FYI Resources. The second of a total of four test runs was also successful. Alcoa and FYI expect the tests to provide indications of how to optimize processes with a view to subsequent production. It therefore carries weight when Managing Director Roland Hill recognizes “an increasing trend towards operational improvements” and expects further “progress in product quality and overall profitability”. This positive trend should make the joint venture even more compelling to Alcoa than it already is. At some point, the market will reward the good work.
