Formation Metals (CSE: FOMO; Germany: VF1<\/a>)<\/strong> has received a new indication of the potential size of the mineralized system at its N2 Gold Project in Quebec. During the first phase of the 2026 winter drilling campaign, fine-grained visible gold was identified in drill hole N2-26-24. This discovery originates from a southerly-located mineralization horizon of the A Zone and is approximately 400 meters away from the previously more extensively explored northern corridor! For Formation Metals, this suggests that the gold mineralization could extend further not only along strike but also at depth and to the south than previously demonstrated. <\/p>\n\n

The N2 Gold Project is located 25 kilometers south of Matagami in Quebec and boasts a historical global resource of approximately 871,000 ounces of gold. This includes about 18 million tonnes grading 1.4 g\/t gold, equivalent to approximately 810,000 ounces, in the A, East, RJ-East, and Central zones. Additionally, there are 243,000 tonnes grading 7.82 g\/t gold, equivalent to approximately 61,000 ounces, in the RJ Zone. Formation Metals is currently working with a fully funded 30,000-meter drilling program to re-evaluate and expand this historical project with modern drilling data. <\/p>\n\n

Formation Metals Discovers Visible Gold in N2-26-24<\/h2>\n\n

Drill hole N2-26-24 was drilled as part of the southward extension drilling. The objective was to determine if the A Zone could be widened and if the significant gold mineralization continued vertically beneath the known northern corridor. The drill hole is designed as a steep deep hole, specifically testing areas outside the previously more narrowly defined boundaries. <\/p>\n\n

At a depth of approximately 151.1 meters, visible gold<\/a> was identified in an approximately 1-centimeter-thick quartz-ankerite-pyrite stockwork veinlet. The mineralization occurs in association with disseminated pyrite within a schistose, moderately ankeritized, and weakly sericitized chloritized basalt. According to Formation Metals, this mineralization is consistent with the style previously observed in the gold-bearing A and RJ Zones. <\/p>\n\n

Thus, N2-26-24 does not represent an isolated observation but a geological indication that fits the project’s previously known pattern. The location of the discovery is particularly important: the southern horizon is structurally below the northern corridor of the A Zone. This lends weight to the interpretation that the system could remain open at depth and to the south. <\/p>\n\n

N2 Gold Project Shows Indications of Greater Width in A Zone<\/h2>\n\n

Formation Metals views the discovery as a potential step towards expanding the known mineralized envelope of the A Zone. The new southern horizon is approximately 400 meters from the northern corridor. Between these two areas lies historical drill hole 154-08-10, which also yielded gold-bearing intercepts. According to the company, this spatial arrangement supports the possibility that the gold mineralization is continuous at depth. <\/p>\n\n

This is significant for the N2 Gold Project because the previous strategy primarily focused on extending the A Zone eastward and westward along strike. Formation Metals estimates that a total of up to 8 kilometers of the system could be mineralized. The current discovery now adds a second dimension to the inquiry: in addition to the length of the system, its width and vertical continuity are now also coming into sharper focus. <\/p>\n\n

CEO Deepak Varshney notes that the initial drilling program at N2 continues to provide new geological insights. From the company’s perspective, a new set of shallow mineralized veins more than 400 meters south of the northern corridor could open up the possibility of laterally expanding the deposit. In this context, Varshney states that the width of a potential open pit could almost triple if this interpretation is confirmed by further drilling. <\/p>\n\n

Previous Drilling Results Support the Model in the Northern Corridor<\/h2>\n\n

Even before the discovery of visible gold, the ongoing campaign had already yielded several wide and continuous gold intercepts from the northern corridor of the A Zone. These include 1.8 g\/t gold over 21.9 meters in N2-25-006 from 154.4 meters drill depth, including 3.4 g\/t gold over 4.8 meters. N2-25-008 yielded 0.95 g\/t gold over 61.1 meters from 109 meters, including 1.68 g\/t gold over 26.5 meters. In N2-25-009, 1.37 g\/t gold over 24.0 meters from 168.9 meters was reported, including 2.05 g\/t gold over 13.3 meters. N2-25-012 delivered 1.75 g\/t gold over 30.4 meters from 64.1 meters, including 3.51 g\/t gold over 10.5 meters and 19.2 g\/t gold over 0.51 meters. <\/p>\n\n

These results form the current core of the geological model in the A Zone. They already confirmed the continuity of gold-bearing intercepts and provided Formation Metals with the basis to plan extension drilling along strike to the east and west. With N2-26-24, another building block is now added, which does not directly aim at extending along strike but addresses the potential depth and width of the system. <\/p>\n\n

Formation Metals Aims to Further Clarify System Dimensions<\/h2>\n\n

Despite historical drilling totaling almost 71,000 meters, Formation Metals still sees a significant need for clarification regarding the size and significance of the gold system at N2. The discovery of visible gold in N2-26-24 indicates, from the company’s perspective, that new mineralized horizons can occur even beyond the already better-known areas. <\/p>\n\n

In the short term, the focus remains on extending the A Zone to the east and west. At the same time, the new discovery opens up additional lateral expansion opportunities. For Formation Metals, a central exploration question thus arises: Is the A Zone a broader, more robust structural gold system than historical models have so far depicted?
