With the mobilization of a second drill rig, the company is launching a new 5,000-meter diamond drilling program focused on the high-grade Poeketi Zone. This expands Sranan Gold’s ongoing work along the Poeketi Shear Zone, where a 7,500-meter Phase II program has been underway in the Randy’s Pit area since January 2026.

This represents a major step for the company, as it allows two central target areas along the same mineralized structure to be processed in parallel, enabling the verification of geological continuity over a larger section.

The primary focus is now on determining how far the gold mineralization can actually be traced along the Poeketi Shear Zone. Both the Poeketi Zone and Randy’s Pit are located on this structure and are characterized by numerous artisanal pits and shallow underground workings where high-grade coarse gold is being extracted. It is precisely this visible gold mineralization at the surface and at shallow depths that forms the basis for the now-expanded drilling program.

Sranan Gold Expands Operations Along the Poeketi Shear Zone

The new 5,000-meter drilling campaign at Poeketi targets an area located approximately 4.5 kilometers northwest of the Randy’s Pit zone. In recent months, local gold miners have continued near-surface and underground work in several pits there. Sranan Gold’s drilling commenced in the southeastern corner of the zone in an area referred to as New Pit.

According to the company, these new mining sites have revealed a mineralized corridor approximately one kilometer in length within the Poeketi Zone. This specific section is now to be systematically tested with the drilling program. This is relevant for Sranan Gold because the current pits and underground exposures provide additional evidence of the extent of the gold mineralization, allowing the drilling program to build upon a structure already identifiable in the field.

The decision to deploy a second drill rig also allows the company to accelerate work along the entire Poeketi Shear Zone. While drilling continues at Randy’s Pit, Sranan Gold can simultaneously pursue the Poeketi area to the northwest with its own capacity. This increases the exploration frequency and ensures that new observations from artisanal mining can be verified promptly.

Poeketi Provides High-Grade Evidence from Samples and Artisanal Mining

The Poeketi Zone is not a new target area for Sranan Gold, but it is now receiving significantly more weight. As early as 2025, the company had taken rock chip samples from near-surface pits there. These yielded gold grades of up to 108.3 g/t, 84.5 g/t, 26.7 g/t, and 25.8 g/t. Such values are particularly significant for early-stage exploration because they demonstrate that local high-grade gold mineralization is present at the surface along the structure.

Geologically, the gold mineralization along the Poeketi Shear Zone is hosted in silicified zones and quartz veins formed within sheared basalts, which are locally intersected by pegmatitic dikes. Artisanal miners extract coarse gold from both the saprolite above the shear zone and from quartz veins, which they follow from the surface into the subsurface. These observations provide Sranan Gold with important clues regarding the nature and orientation of the mineralization, helping to define drill targets more precisely.

The combination of high-grade surface samples, visible artisanal mining activity, and an already defined structure gives the Poeketi Zone additional significance within the overall project. For Sranan Gold, the goal now is to derive a reliable picture of the continuity and spatial distribution of the gold mineralization from these individual observations.

Tapanahony Targeted to Reach at Least 12,500 Drill Meters in 2026

With the new program, Sranan Gold’s planned drilling volume at the Tapanahony project in 2026 increases to at least 12,500 meters. This is comprised of the 5,000 meters at Poeketi and the ongoing 7,500 meters at Randy’s Pit. The overarching goal is to demonstrate the continuity of gold mineralization along the more than 4.5-kilometer-long Poeketi Shear Zone.

In the Randy’s Pit area, previous drilling has already outlined gold mineralization over an 800-meter strike length of the shear zone. This mineralization remains open in both directions. Additionally, a trenching program is set to begin southeast of Randy’s Pit to test the continuation of mineralization outside the previously known area.

In parallel, Sranan Gold is also expanding accompanying exploration work at Poeketi. The company is scaling up the sampling and trenching program to extend the known gold mineralization tied to the Poeketi Shear Zone up to 2.5 kilometers northwest of the Poeketi Zone. Further saprolite pits and outcrops along creek beds are being mapped and sampled. Thus, the work is not limited to the immediate vicinity of the drill sites but aims for a broader understanding of the entire mineralized trend.

Lawatino Also Enters Planning for Sranan Gold

In addition to Tapanahony, Sranan Gold is already working on initial plans for an exploration program at the Lawatino gold project. This 18,468-hectare property is located in the Asisi Creek area along the same deep-seated regional structure, the Central Guiana Shear Zone. This structure also controls the gold mineralization at Founders Metals’ Antino gold project and Miata Metals’ Sela Creek project, two particularly active gold exploration projects currently in Suriname.

In the short term, however, Sranan Gold’s focus is clearly on Tapanahony. With the second drill rig, the new 5,000-meter program in the Poeketi Zone, and continued work at Randy’s Pit, the company is intensifying its exploration along a shear zone that can already be traced for kilometers. This is intended to clarify how consistent and extensive the gold system along the Poeketi Shear Zone actually is.

Sranan Gold (WKN A416C1 / CSE SRAN) is significantly increasing the pace of exploration at the Tapanahony project in Suriname.
