In this video, we accompany the team from Sranan Gold (CSE: SRAN; FSE/Tradegate: P84) on a field trip to the so-called “Randy’s Pit” in the Tapanahony Gold Project in Suriname. The open pit measures approximately 150 meters in length and 30–40 meters in depth. It was originally created by local gold diggers. The size and structure of the pit, as well as the previous mining methods, provide valuable information about the geology and possible continuation of the mineralization. The pit is located in saprolite material, which was intensively mined by local miners.
Sranan Gold is currently preparing to expand its extensive drilling campaign on Tapanahony: The first drilling sites are located approximately 50–100 meters north of the pit. The aim is to expand and better understand the mineralization along the 4.5 km long Poeketi-Randy trend. Initial drilling results showed 11.5 meters with 3.64 g/t gold in saprolite, approximately 300 meters north of the pit, which confirms the continuation of the gold system. Further work includes trenching, mapping and drilling south of the pit.
