Sitka Gold (TSXV: SIG; FSE: 1RF) is taking advantage of an early start to the 2025 drilling season at its RC Gold Project in the Yukon, where the company plans to drill 30,000 meters this year. While most competitors are just beginning to mobilize their equipment, the company is already reporting its second drill result from its Blackjack deposit this year. The most recent drill hole, DDRCC-25-076 (“Hole 76”), was the deepest hole ever drilled at RC Gold, at 810.8 meters. The latest drilling in hole 76 confirms and extends the high-grade gold mineralization at Blackjack and returned 94.0 meters of 1.15 g/t gold, including 12.2 meters of 4.55 g/t gold, and in a separate section, 25.0 m grading 5.04 g/t gold, including 1.8 m grading 54.70 g/t gold within 86.4 m grading 1.65 g/t gold.
The strong gold mineralization at the bottom of the drill hole indicates that this high-grade gold zone continues at greater depth in the Blackjack Zone. Sitka’s geologists have now defined a southeast-trending mineralized corridor where gold grades increase with depth, confirmed by the increasing frequency of higher-grade gold values in the recently completed drill core, indicating that drilling is progressing towards the source of this gold system.
Cor Coe, Director and CEO of Sitka Gold commented:“The results from drill hole 76 are very encouraging and confirm that the high-grade gold mineralization intersected at depth in drill holes 68 and 75 continues both laterally and at depth and could represent a large, contiguous zone with significant tonnage potential. Assay results from the bottom of drill hole 76 returned strong gold values within mineralized metasediments, indicating that gold mineralization is likely to continue at greater depths. We are now extending drill hole 76 further down the depth of this gold system to further pursue this promising high-grade gold zone as we move towards the potential source of the Blackjack gold deposit. We look forward to testing the depth potential of this impressive gold system and commencing exploration of several other high-priority targets within the Clear Creek Intrusive Complex.”
Figure 1: Cross-section of DDRCCC-25-075 and DDRCCC-25-076, the deepest drill hole to date in the Blackjack Zone. Drill hole 76 was drilled to a depth of 810.8 meters, approximately 100 meters deeper than all previous drilling, and confirms that gold mineralization continues laterally and at depth. The strong gold grades at the end of the drill hole indicate that this gold zone continues deeper into the system.
Figure 2: Longitudinal section of completed drill holes in the Blackjack Zone. Higher-grade mineralization has been defined in a southeast-trending mineralized corridor where gold grades increase with depth. This suggests that drilling is moving towards the source of this gold system. The pit-constrained mineral resource from the 2023 MRE is shown in orange, with the additional resources from the updated MRE released earlier this year shown in yellow.
Figure 3: The Clear Creek Intrusive Complex in the western part of the RC Gold Project is a cluster of intrusions, all of which host known gold mineralization and encompass numerous current drill targets highlighted by the magenta hatched areas.
Conclusion: Sitka Gold has just launched the most extensive drilling program in its history. This year, the company plans to drill a total of 30,000 meters at Blackjack and the other three targets, Pukelnan, Rhosgobel, and Eiger. This is equivalent to the total amount drilled in the five years since exploration began at the Clear Creek Complex. Sitka plans to put up to three additional drill rigs into operation in the coming weeks. The drill results reported at the start of the season at Blackjack are noteworthy not only because they confirm the high-grade extension of the gold at depth, but also because the reported results are immediately adjacent to the already defined resource at Blackjack. Geologists are starting to connect the dots between the high-grade gold occurrences in the deeper sections of drill holes 68, 75, and 76. This could be of great significance for the subsequent re-calculation of the resource at Blackjack.
