Preparations for Drilling Start in Q3 Underway
The timing is promising. While industry giants like mining mogul Robert Friedland recently warned again of a “copper crisis,” Canadian Prismo Metals (WKN A2QEGD / CSE PRIZ) has now received approval for a first drilling program on their Hot Breccia copper project in southern Arizona, USA. This allows preparations for the first drilling program in 50 years on the promising property to begin!
Prismo has already deposited a bond with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), completing the final step necessary before work can commence. Prismo initially plans five drill holes with a total length of 5,000 meters on Hot Breccia, aiming to investigate the promising stratigraphy beneath the volcanic cover rock and particularly the large conductive anomaly discovered during a geophysical ZTEM survey in 2023.
The company also conducted mapping, site visits, and sampling on the project last year. All these measures supported the target generation and selection process! While drilling is carried out on the selected targets, the exploration geologists will use the information gained almost “live” to determine whether individual drill holes justify or require an expansion of the work.
Prismo Metals Accelerates the Pace
As Prismo announces after receiving BLM approval, they will implement the preparatory work as quickly as possible. The use of existing road infrastructure from the 1970s (when Hot Breccia was last drilled) is helpful, requiring only minor repair and maintenance work. As soon as the BLM confirms receipt of the bond, the company will begin these works, hopefully allowing them to conduct the first copper drilling as planned in the third quarter of this year. According to the company, the planned budget for the drilling work is around 3 million CAD.
The mineralized target that Prismo is aiming for was last investigated 50 years ago. As Steve Robertson, President of Prismo Metals, explains, several drill intersections showed more than 1% copper and elevated zinc values, among other findings. Since then, however, one of the world’s most significant copper deposits (Resolution) has been discovered just 40 kilometers away, demonstrating what is possible in the region!
Conclusion: Obtaining the drilling permit for Hot Breccia is a crucial milestone for Prismo Metals. For the first time in 50 years, an attractive target can be tested with drilling, after a massive copper deposit was discovered in the immediate vicinity in the meantime. The planned initial 5,000-meter drilling program, which still needs to be financed, will provide Prismo with crucial information to approach the center of another potential mineralization system in one of the world’s richest copper districts.
