Sranan Gold Corp. (CSE: SRAN; FSE & Tradegate: P84) has released new results from its ongoing trenching program at the Tapanahony Project in Suriname. Of particular note is a 5-meter section averaging 8.9 g/t gold, located west of the previously reported trench 25RACH-001. This further extends the mineralized Randy Trend, while diamond core drilling is also taking place in this area.
Sranan Gold Extends Randy Trend through Trenching
The new samples come from trench 25RACH-005, located approximately 150 meters south of Randy’s Pit. The gold mineralization is hosted within a northeast-striking, sheared felsic intrusion in a sequence of siltstone and basalt. Of particular interest is that the observed shearing resembles that in a neighboring trench, where a spectacular value of 57 g/t gold was previously identified. These structures indicate the complexity of the mineralized system – a positive signal for the zone’s further potential.
With the trenching, Sranan aims to systematically delineate the near-surface gold mineralization around Randy’s Pit and expand the mineralized zone for future drilling. According to Dr. Dennis LaPoint, EVP Exploration and Corporate Development, this method is ideal for demonstrating the extent of gold occurrences in weathered bedrock (saprolite).
Reliable Assay Results via QA/QC Procedures
Samples were analyzed by Filab in Paramaribo. To ensure accuracy, all values above 2 g/t were re-assayed using 50-gram and gravimetric methods. The applied QA/QC processes confirmed satisfactory reproducibility. Additionally, check samples will be sent to an independent laboratory for confirmation.
With these results, Sranan Gold further expands its database and underscores the potential of the Tapanahony Project. The ongoing combination of trenching, channel sampling, and drilling serves to precisely define the thickness and average gold grade of the mineralization – even though channel samples do not necessarily reflect the true thickness of the zones.
