The Canadian gold and copper explorer Sankamap Metals (CSE SCU / WKN A413DA) has completed the evaluation of a magnetotelluric survey (“Mobile MT”) flown in July 2025 on the Kuma project in the Solomon Islands (South Pacific). The survey, covering 374 line-kilometers, encompassed approximately 3,500 of the total 4,500 hectares, situated about 37 kilometers southeast of Honiara on Guadalcanal – and it yielded promising results!
According to the company, the new data correlates with previously mapped alteration zones and surface geochemistry, thereby refining the planning of initial drill targets. CEO John Florek speaks of indications pointing to porphyry systems and supporting the continuity of mineralization at depth.

Sankamap Metals: Geophysics Reveals Annular Conductivity Zone around Resistive Core
The core finding of the evaluation is an approximately 5 × 2 kilometer annular zone of elevated conductivity, enclosing a 2 × 3 kilometer thick, highly resistive body. The highest conductivity coincides with zones of advanced argillic and clay-mica alteration; the patterns also align with a previously described annular, topographic depression. In the geological model, this indicates an arrangement typical for a porphyry: a resistive, potassically altered intrusive body at the center, surrounded by conductive sulfide and alteration halos. Additionally, magnetic and conductive trends point to structural controls and potential fluid pathways – a circumstance that aids in defining multiple potential intrusion centers.
The Mobile MT campaign was flown in north-south profiles with 100-meter line spacing. The resulting conductivity and resistivity models were reviewed jointly with Expert Geophysics and external consultants. In summary, the data provides a consistent 3D framework that prioritizes drill targets within the mapped lithocap (near-surface alteration cap >2 kilometers in extent).
Context: Alteration, Samples, and Location within the Regional Trend
Previous work at Kuma had already identified a broad spectrum of porphyry-type alteration – from phyllic to argillic to “advanced argillic” facies (including alunite/dickite). Surface grab samples, according to the company, yielded individual values of up to 11.7% copper (Cu) and 13.5 g/t gold (Au). The project is located along a prospective copper-gold trend in the South Pacific, which hosts major deposits such as Lihir and Panguna.
In parallel, the company is conducting follow-up work on the Fauro property. Historical trench sampling programs there had yielded high-grade gold intercepts; recent sampling additionally indicates elevated copper grades in selected target areas. Prospecting work is planned in areas where magnetic highs with anomalous gold and copper signatures have been detected.
Next Steps: Funding Secured, Drilling to Commence in January
For operational implementation, Sankamap Metals refers to a financing of US$4.7 million reported on October 3, 2025, which is intended to secure the start of the next exploration phase.
The work plan includes:
- Target Refinement: Integration of new geophysics with mapping and geochemistry to prioritize high-priority drill targets.
- Infrastructure: Construction of pads and camp from late November; logistics check and field reconnaissance in early November.
- Equipment & Schedule: Procurement and mobilization of drilling equipment are underway; the initial drilling campaign at Kuma is scheduled to begin in January 2026.
- Regarding Fauro, follow-up work is planned on additional magnetic anomalies associated with elevated gold and copper values.
Significance for Sankamap Metals and the Kuma Project
For Sankamap Metals, the Mobile MT results provide a consistent geophysical image that aligns with the surface-mapped alteration and geochemistry signatures. This congruence is important in the early phase because it supports the spatial delineation of drill targets and enables systematic testing sequences: first, exploring conductive halo structures and their interconnections with the resistive center, then evaluating structural pathways and potential intrusion centers. Concurrently, the secured funding provides operational flexibility to transition the campaign from target definition to the drilling phase without prolonged interruption.
The company considers Kuma an underexplored copper and gold porphyry system in a region with known metallogeny. The upcoming underground step – the systematic drilling of prioritized zones – will be crucial to test the models derived from geophysics and surface data and to verify the geological structure at depth.
