The news released yesterday after market close in Germany by Axo Copper (TSXV AXO / WKN A416BY) has clearly been well-received by investors in Canada. After CEO Jonathan Eglio’s company released the latest drill results from its copper project in Mexico, the stock surged by more than 15% on strong trading!
Axo is currently in the second phase of a drilling program at the La Huerta project and has once again demonstrated elevated copper grades in the La Huerta Trend, within the Las Marias target area!
Axo Copper Intercepts up to 5.24% Copper Equivalent
The highlight was certainly drill hole LHCC-25-045, where Axo demonstrated a strong 5.24% (!) Copper Equivalent – consisting of 4.86% copper and 30.0 g/t silver – over 6.4 meters. This was part of a broader interval of 13.2 meters, which still averaged a high 3.08% CuEq (2.89% copper and 15.0 g/t silver)!
The copper mineralization in LHCC-25-045 is found in chalcopyrite and bornite, intersected by andesitic host rock, with stronger bornite occurrences present in the higher-grade section. With this drill hole, Axo investigated a down-dip extension of historical drill hole G-023 (3.05% CuEq over 6.4 meters), with LHCC-25-045 demonstrating mineralization and thus the continuity of the La Huerta Trend on the other side of a small fault.

To date, Axo Copper has completed 3,288 meters of the 15,000-meter drilling program, which was initiated in June. Therefore, a lot more drill results are still to be expected.

Regional Drilling Program Now Underway
Especially since a second drill rig has now arrived at La Huerta, which the company will first use to test the regional target La Huerta South, located approximately 3 kilometers from Las Marias. Here, Axo Copper made a new discovery in July with the help of grab and channel samples, reporting up to 10% copper at the surface. And now, in more recent samples from La Huerta South, gold has also been discovered! A new surface sample, in fact, showed 1.41% copper and 2.6 g/t gold.
Conclusion: In our opinion, the preliminary results of the Phase Two drilling at Las Marias appear very promising and once again confirm the potential for significant, high-grade copper mineralization. Continued news flow should be ensured, as several thousand more meters of drilling are yet to come at the La Huerta project. Regional exploration is also shaping up to be exciting! We will definitely stay tuned!
