Max Resource: Further Discovery on Cesar Copper-Silver Project
The massive Cesar copper and silver project, which Max Resource (WKN A2PT41 / TSXV MAX) is exploring in Colombia, spans a total of 90 kilometers. Currently, the company is focusing on the northern area of the property, the AM District. And from there, Max is now reporting the discovery of a new copper and silver target.
The new target area, AM 08, is located about 7 kilometers southeast of AM 07, a target area that the company identified in June of this year. And according to Bruce Counts, Max Resource’s new Chief Geologist, this discovery further reinforces the company’s thesis that numerous independent deposits could be present on Cesar. In total, 22 target areas have now been identified across the entire Cesar project.
The AM District
Starting in the northernmost part of the Jurassic basin, classic stacked Rotliegend outcrops with extensive lateral continuity were sampled over many kilometers in the AM District. Peak values of 34.4% copper and 305 g/t silver were documented in the sedimentary red bed sequences. Earlier this year, Max confirmed with two exploratory drill holes that the stratiform mineralization continues at depth.
Preliminary work on the AM 08 outcrop, according to the company, has shown that the copper and silver mineralization is contained in a steeply dipping structure within a porphyritic rhyolite, a type of felsic volcanic rock, visible across a width of 10 meters before disappearing beneath the surface. Chalcocite and malachite are the most common copper minerals observed in the outcrop, with minor amounts of chalcopyrite and covellite also present.
Max crews have already begun systematic trench sampling on the mineralized outcrop. Additionally, detailed mapping in the vicinity of the new discovery has been initiated to potentially expand the extent of the mineralization.
Survey of AM District in Full Swing
Parallel to these works, a high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey of the entire AM District, covering 4,000 kilometers in length, is in full swing. Max Resource will use the survey results to refine existing targets and identify new ones by mapping the lithologies and geological structures that control the mineralization.
Conclusion: The potential of the Cesar project grows with each target that Max Resource discovers on the massive property. The prospect of not just a few, but numerous independent copper-silver deposits is, in our view, extremely promising, but it also means that the company still has a lot of work ahead to further substantiate this thesis. For now, we are eagerly awaiting the results of the samples currently being taken at AM 08 and will, of course, keep Goldinvest.de readers updated.
