Here we go: As announced, gold explorer Goliath Resources (WKN A2P063 / TSXV GOT) begins its gigantic 2025 work program on the Surebet gold discovery by re-examining older drill holes. A special focus is on drilling that intersected intrusive Eocene granitoid veins between 2021 and 2024, which, simply put, run perpendicular to the numerous previously discovered layered gold veins at Surebet. And the very first examined material delivers spectacular impressions!
Because, as Goliath Resources has just announced, numerous examples of visible gold were encountered in drill core from hole GD-22-64 within a 26.47 meter thick mineralized interval (274.15 to 300.62 meters deep) – visible even to the naked eye! GD-22-64 intersected an intermediate granitoid Reduced Intrusion Related Gold (RIRG) dyke, one of numerous such RIRG dykes believed by Goliath to be directly related to the intrusion responsible for the extensive high-grade gold mineralization repeatedly confirmed in the Surebet discovery!
The company has re-sampled the entire mineralized interval from hole GD-22-64 and is now awaiting assay results. However, Goliath notes that the observed mineralization is strongly reminiscent of an intercept from hole GD-22-58, which was also drilled in 2022 and returned up to 12.03 g/t gold over 10 metres when re-assayed in 2024! Other intercepts of gold mineralization confirmed in previously reported intrusive veins include drill hole GD-24-237 grading 10.50 g/t gold equivalent over 7.00 metres, GD-23-180 grading 3.46 g/t gold equivalent over 7.00 metres and GD-23-226 grading 6.03 g/t gold equivalent over 2 metres.
This is just the beginning for Goliath Resources
As part of this year’s activities, Goliath will now re-examine the remaining 49 such drill holes (among others) and we are truly looking forward to these results. Last year, the company only examined 13 drill holes from these granitoid intrusions from the Eocene returned up to 12.03 g/t gold over 10 metres.
It is also interesting to note that the type of gold mineralization that occurs in these veins is also found in the gold-rich, layered quartz veins in the Surebet shear zone. In any case, the gold mineralized intrusive veins are up to 25 meters wide and exposed along strike at surface for up to 1,500 meters and remain open for extension. This, according to Goliath, strongly suggests proximity to a gold-rich reduced intrusive mother lode!
And this re-examination of existing drill core is just the prelude to the company’s largest drilling campaign to date, which is expected to cover 40,000 meters this year. Goliath Resources plans to systematically drill in 2025 to delineate the geometry and extent of the Surebet discovery both laterally and at depth. The detailed drill plan is also designed to find the “mother lode” believed to be the intrusive source of the high-grade Surebet mineralization, to test additional granitoid veining, and to increase the density of drill hits in all known, layered gold veins with infill drilling. In addition, Goliath intends to extend these known veins laterally and to depth where they remain open. An ambitious program that, in our opinion, could take Founder & CEO Roger Rosmus’ company, which is also extremely well-funded, to another level if successful!
