Exciting: Prismo Metals Inc. (CSE PRIZ / WKN A2QEGD) reports porphyry-style mineralization from its Silver King project in the US state of Arizona! Given its immediate proximity to the Resolution Copper deposit, a joint venture between Rio Tinto and BHP and one of the largest undeveloped copper deposits worldwide, and similar surface occurrences in the eastern claim area, the potential significantly increases.
During recent fieldwork, the team led by Chief Exploration Officer Dr. Craig Gibson identified several targets next to the historic silver mine: polymetallic veins, manto replacements, and a strongly altered intrusion with stockwork quartz-pyrite veins – a very positive development for the project.
Silver King is located just three kilometers from Resolution Copper and the high-grade, now-closed Magma Mine. The mineralization at Silver King is in the same rock sequence as Resolution, but here it is exposed at the surface and not covered by the thick sequence of unmineralized volcanic rocks that overlies Resolution. The Magma Mine was developed between 1911 and 1996 on veins and replacement bodies in Paleozoic and Precambrian strata and intrusives, producing approximately 27.6 million tonnes of ore averaging 4.9% copper, as well as significant quantities of zinc, gold (689,000 ounces), and silver (34.3 million ounces) (Briggs, 2015) – work that ultimately led to the discovery of Resolution.
Comparable mineralization occurs in several historic pits with abundant copper oxide (primarily malachite) along a northeast-dipping limestone horizon near the contact with a quartz-diorite intrusion and quartzite, along the same structural and stratigraphic trend as the Magma Mine, 0.6 to 1.5 kilometers to the southwest. The largest occurrence, the Black Diamond Mine in the eastern part of the claim block, exposes a large outcrop with specular hematite and malachite replacing a limestone bed (Fig. 2).
An erosional window in the regional quartz-diorite east of the Silver King adits also exposed a felsic intrusion, which was described in historical records and has now been confirmed by Prismo. This intrusion, previously interpreted as a breccia pipe, shows very strong stockwork quartz-pyrite veins in a quartz-sericite altered host rock. Although metal contents measured by portable XRF in soil samples are only weakly anomalous, historical reports document high-salinity fluid inclusions, typical of porphyry systems – thus providing clear indications of porphyry potential within the claim package.
Prismo Metals Discovered New Silver and Copper Veins
President Gordon Aldcorn emphasizes that the program initially focused on a comprehensive investigation of the historic mines and prospecting areas around the Silver King adits. Several mineralized occurrences were identified, including veins near the mine, as well as replacement and skarn mineralization in limestone formations of the sedimentary sequence at the contact. As reported in the August 28, 2025 announcement, Prismo’s geologists discovered two previously undescribed veins in the vicinity of the historic Glory Hole, which was developed on the original high-grade silver outcrop of the deposit. Visual inspection and portable XRF indicate two distinct veins: one with abundant silver, lead, and zinc, the other with copper and silver values.
The now-completed initial exploration program included geological and mineralogical mapping, as well as geochemical and alteration mineral studies around the surface expression of Silver King and a separate target to the east. Geochemical exploration using soil samples with portable XRF showed discrete anomalies for Cu, Ag, and Sb around the historic Glory Hole; the copper geochemistry also correlates with the aforementioned ENE-striking, copper-bearing vein (Fig. 3). A total of 29 samples were sent to the lab, supplemented by an additional 15 samples from the Ripsey Mine. This initial phase refines the understanding of the potential and uncovers new structures that were not fully exposed during historical mining – providing a solid basis for the upcoming drilling program, which is in the permitting phase and is expected to advance shortly.
Background Silver King and Ripsey: Silver King, discovered in 1875, is one of Arizona’s most important historical producers, yielding nearly 6 million ounces of silver with grades of up to 61 ounces/tonne. The mine is located just 3 km from the main shaft of the Resolution Copper project – as mentioned, one of the world’s largest undeveloped copper deposits with estimated resources of 1.787 billion tonnes at an average of 1.5% copper – and is entirely surrounded by Resolution Copper claims, offering strategic upside potential for Prismo.
Selected samples from small-scale production at Silver King in the late 1990s yielded up to 644 ounces/tonne silver (18,250 g/t) and 0.53 ounces/tonne gold (15 g/t) – an indication of continued high-grade mineralization. The Ripsey Mine, a historic gold-silver-copper producer approximately 20 km west of Prismo’s Hot Breccia project, features adits and shafts on multiple levels along an approximately 400-meter-long vein with about 160 meters of vertical extent. In the late 1990s, a small amount of material was extracted by the optionor; limited sampling by Dr. Craig Gibson yielded 15.9 g/t gold and 275 g/t silver over 0.75 meters, as well as 8.7 g/t gold, 181 g/t silver, 3% copper, and 9% zinc over 1 meter. As no modern exploration work has been carried out to date, there is significant potential here with several drill targets.
Conclusion: The prospect of further high-grade silver mineralization at the historic Silver King Mine has clearly stimulated investors’ imagination, with Prismo’s stock having already approximately doubled in the past three months. The possibility that Prismo could now have similar mineralization on the property as Resolution or Magma could further fuel this imagination. We will keep you updated!
