Copper Demand Surges – Miners Can’t Keep Up

Goldman Sachs estimates that the industry needs to spend $150 billion over the next decade to address a projected annual supply shortfall of 8 million tons of copper.
Many of the world’s major copper mines are aging, and the quality of the ore they produce is decreasing. With these factors as the backdrop, it’s little surprise that copper’s price hit a new record above $5.10 per lb. in May.
Steve Robertson, a Canadian geologist with over 30 years of mining industry-related experience, joined Alexander Smith on the pod. Mr. Robertson was awarded the 2016 E.A. Scholz Award for Excellence in Mine Development for his leadership role in the development of Imperial Metals’ Red Chris mine. Today, Steve is the President of our sponsor and client, Prismo Metals (CSE:PRIZ).
